Hi am helping a mate repatriate a 73 80 from the US. I need the height at highest point at the speedo/tacho to help with packing the bike. Seat height is not enough info.
Thanks
Nick
One of my Atlas Exhaust valves appears too long and the adjuster angle and action on the valve is not good. I expect the seat has recessed a bit although its been nicely angled and appears fine.
Having blown out several composite gaskets, I intend going back to copper (even if there is oil seepage!). What is the optimum thickness for use with an iron head Dominator 88? . I have seen from 1 to 5mm.
I'm building a Commando engine from scratch. In terms of rider experience, my 750 Commando is the best of the 30-40 bikes I've ridden over the past few decades.
Hi, bought a new 276 carb for my 1930 model 18 but cannot get it to tick over without the air screw screwed right in. Open it a crack and it spits back and stalls. Checked for blockage and and tried to clean air passage.
Well its sad news the Norton gremlins have struck again as John McGuinness on a Norton V4RR did one lap and lost its oil presser So john was out of the Race sad and devastating for him , well there is alway another year yours anna j
Hi, wondering if anyone's come across the Wassell Evolution range of carbs?
I’m currently restoring a couple of Jubilee engines. I’m looking for an engineering/restoration company in the Kent/Sussex area for backup and assistance if necessary. Any advice would be welcome.
Hi all - I am looking for input / advice on whether to add insulating washers under the inlet side valve springs as originally they were only installed on the exhaust side .
On the mainshaft, directly in front of the main drive sprocket securing nut , I have a bronze bush. It would butt up against the back of the clutch centre. It's about half an inch wide. I cannot see it only any parts diagrams.
Hi.
My Domi 99 is becoming more like a ‘Who done it?’ mystery every day.
Has anyone got any technical specs or information they could provide on the Petty PGT gearbox (5-speed) - any help would be much appreciated. mike.foley@talk21.com
My ES2 has a fiberglass Manx gas tank with an integral chamber for oil. I don't like it and am considering an Indian-made steel Manx replica. Are these any good? The ones I've seen are wideline and I think my frame is a Slimline (right?)
Although, as usual, no mention is made in the Events Section, bookings are now being accepted. Visit the Flanders branch website for details.
Having just acquired the in a reasonable state the little machine is a bit of a joy to work with an needs little to improve it other than the paintwork.
Hi,
Having managed to wrestle the top yoke off my Domi forks I’ve now discovered what I believe to be another bit of butchery by a previous owner (please see attached photos).
Bike is 1959 Dommi - I am rebuilding engine. I have purchased Andover pistons and Thunder Engineering Connecting Rods (which have no small end bushes).
After 20 years of satisfactory service from my Boyer Power Box, my charging system only provides just over 10 volts at the (disconnected) battery terminals. This seems to me to be an odd failure mode. Any hints and tips would be most welcome.
Afternoon ..... can anyone tell me the socket size i need to undo the clutch retaining nut please? 3/8 is too small, and 1/2 wont even go in the hole. Am i missing a socket from my carbootsale set?? 1947 M18. Ta.
Good morning,
Could anyone please help with some information regarding a mystery oilway in the barrel of my 1930 Norton?
Last year and 1000 miles ago, I rebuilt my 1935 Es2 gearbox and clutch. When stripping clutch found all the friction plates had there tangs worn down to a couple of mm.
My 1947 500T has the very irritating habit, due to vibration, of the clutch cable adjuster screw screwing its way into the gearbox despite the locking thumbwheel being tightened.
The NOC shop has two decoke gasket sets for the ES2. One, Part No D254, is for '48 - '55, the other, Part NO D256, is for '55 - '57.
Mine is '55 so which one is correct? Mine has the Alfin head.
Cheers
George
What size and type is the mudguard stay thread.
Thanks
John.
Putting a few miles on the Mk3 today after a total rebuild, 54 miles done now and on the whole good. Things appear to be working in sync with each other to provide a fantastic ride so far.
Hi All, just a few words on my Norton 961 sport 2015 model. I was one of the first riders of the first batch of 961 bikes to hit Australia and my bike arrived in January 2015.
