Advance curve of Lucas ATD

Has anyone examined the Lucas ATD to find out how quickly it advances to full advance, and what would be ideal?  I get the idea that it advances too rapidly, so what remedies?  I am thinking of stronger springs, or lightening the bob weights.  But

My 1936 model 18 had an aluminium head gasket fitted but according to the parts book for 1936 there shouldn't be one. Which explains why I couldn't find one in the catalogues of the usual suppliers.

Twin carb question

Venturing into resetting my twin monoblocks after a complete strip down and I got to wondering why it has been necessary to remove the choke, blank off the choke cable adjuster and blank off the throttle stop on one carb.

Centering front wheel

Any tips or guidance for centering the front wheel of my 56 Wideline Dominator. I seem to have the wheel rim 10 mm closer to the offside leg than the nearside leg. I don't see a spacer on any of the drawings but should there be one?

Magneto chain adjust

Hello,  Needing to tighten up the 1947 M18 magneto chain.  Is it just a case of pivoting the magdyno?  Will i need to re-time the spark?  Sorry - beginner's question!    Thanks . 

ES2 Tank Grips

I have just ordered some new tank grips for my 1949 ES2, the originals had a metal plate inside making them keep their shape, the new ones are rubber and do not stay to the same shape of the tank when the single bolt is secured.

speedo trip reset knob

looking for somewhere I can get hold of a trip reset knob for my 1973 750 commando. fits from underneath and not the side. does any one know if they are the same as the side type, wondering if I could buy one and somehow lengthen it..

This morning I pulled the crankshaft apart on my barn find Domi 99. In a previous post I mentioned that a large chunk of the drive side oil seal support face in the left-hand crankcase was missing.
