Research suggests that 650 engines running the high pressure lubrication system with oil holes in the con rods are best fitted with "Wellworthy" oil scraper rings.
Will soon need some good Gaskets to complete my engine rebuild ( Dommi 88 1959) . I have a `spigot` type barrel so presume a copper one is the only option ? What I want some advice on is what are the best to buy and who to deal with ?
I am rebuilding the cylinder head of my 1959 ex Paul Smart 600cc Dommie but I am not sure what the valve springs should be although I have checked the main dealer websites (Andover/RGM/Norvil).
Hi Everyone,
I am looking at purchasing a 2016 961.
Can anyone tell me if there is a factory fitted alarm immobiliser on the Garner era bikes please?
I have seen no mention on the adverts or reviews, so assume there is not?
I'm well on the way with my jubilee restoration but need some advice on my barrel situation . I'm thinking about getting them re lined .
Hi, I have a 73 mk1a and when I puty a flat ruler edge on across the top surface of the cylinders I can see that it isnt completely flat, i can rock it ever so slightly, the area between the bores must be raised, is this normal or do I need to ski

Does anyone know whether it is possible to get the stepped retaining nut for the Lucas 30552 ignition switch fitted to the 850 Mk3 as a separate item?
Hi everyone , need some assurance that the Haynes manual is correct ? Does the oil pump only have ordinary reduced head nuts holding it down ?
Afternoon all. I have spent the last 6 weeks inventorying my parts, cleaning the cylinder head and removing rust for my 54 Dominator 88. I believe I am ready to start rebuilding the cylinder head. Are there complete kits out there that include
I've just realised if I hover over a topic title I'm shown how many comments there are! Brilliant! Any way it could show how many since I last visited?
I have a heavy duty 12 volt battery under the seat of my Electra. I don't have the proper battery strap (previous owner had used a bit of bunjy cord) so thought I could fashion something out of stuff I had lying around.
I'm not keen on having to remove the sump plate to drain the crankcase should this become necessary. I noted an item in the light twins compendium where Martin Jones had drilled and tapped the plate and fitted a 5mm setscrew.
The Electra shows its cheapskate FB origins in a number of areas although many of the design features seem excellent. One thing I think awful is the mickey mouse rear brake stop which is merely a bit of bent tin trapped under the footrest.
First I would like to wish everyone Health and Happiness for 2025 and secondly I would like to ask the people with far more Norton knowledge than me a question.
Hi,
Just trying to understand...
I know that on the Commando, the standard cam, the PW3 the 4S etc. all have different tappet gaps.
Hi Guys,
I purchased this kit from RGM Norton in December 2023 and have just fitted it as part of my restoration project.
Initially there was no spark at the plug when the engine was cranked (kickstarted).
As the years go on, information fades away. There's the internet, of course, and it's great resource, but also a great pollutor with fact, opinion and fiction woven into each other.
Hi can anyone give me a bit of advise?
I am doing a refurbish project on a 1955 Norton Dominator 88 twin Deluxe 500cc
This bike was last on the road in 1967, it was taken apart and never done anything with.
Hi,
Im am looking at buying a low mileage 2011 Norton Commando 961 to compliment my 72 roadster, my question is, are genuine parts readily available for the Donnington Park models and where from? I can`t seem to find much on the web.
My 650 SS PR would have had an auto advance mag or a fixed advance . I have both types of mags , but would prefer the K2FC as it would appear to be in far better condition .Is it a straightforward parts swap ?
Specifically the pipe from the oil tank to atmosphere. Is it directed down to the front end of the rear chain guard or elsewhere?
I'm getting conflicting information. I thought the standard arrangement was to the chain guard.
Afternoon
There is no retaining clip on my light switch it looks like it has been stuck in with mastic.
To get the light switch out I take it the switch breaks apart either side of the headlamp shell?
The badge in crankcase on my '53 Dommie loose all painting and time to swap with new one.
How is the best way to remove the old one to avoid any damage?
/Giovanni
I’ve just read a rather disconcerting- and badly written- article (paywall- requires a subscription to access) on the Daily Telegraph website (other websites are available)
Hi.
I've tried several types of handlebar mounted mirrors on my Mk3 Commando and each time all I get is a good look at my elbows!
Greetings from the Shed
I am searching for a mythical creature, something of an unexpected rarity round these parts. Something I would not have thought to be an issue..... but what do I know!
Planning ahead for an inevitable need for a rebore for my Electra in near future and with NOS pistons rather than hens teeth I have a set of new +20 thou Hepolite pistons but my bores are already +30 thou.
