Electra cylinder liners
Planning ahead for an inevitable need for a rebore for my Electra in near future and with NOS pistons rather than hens teeth I have a set of new +20 thou Hepolite pistons but my bores are already +30 thou.

I would like to leave this city, but this old bike don`t sound so pretty,
And I can hear the warning signs, rattle around inside.
And when I pass this island, it`s not too far to my home asylum,
Hi does anyone know the size of this bolt just to save me taking it apart?
Is there a retaining nut inside or is the headlight casing captive?
Thx
For my race project, I've acquired a Norton Dominator front wheel with a SLS brake plate. However, for racing a TLS would be the minimum requirement I think.
Hello, wondered if anyone can advise on this please. The top gearbox mounting bolt on my 1971 750 only engages to about a third of the depth of the locknut.
Hello, I've dismantled the relief valve on my 1971 750 and there aren't any shims as shown in the parts book.
O Wise Ones!
I have to replace the crankshaft seal on my 72 Commando which obviously necessitates removing the primary drive on this case a Les Emery installed belt drive.
So following this thread - https://www.nortonownersclub.org/forum/fitting-alternator-crank-dynamo-cases
The brackets for the coil are located in 1/4" Cycle nuts trapped under a folded bracket. This is fine for the smaller twins but a real pain with the Electra's stiffening brackets as you can't get a spanner on the nut.
As we all know, timing the lightweights using markings on the alternator rotor and a pointer on the stator is the usual method advised.
Gents,
I will soon be in the process of removing head and cylinder on my 46 due to bad head gasket...yes a copper head gasket. PO who rebuilt it used a head gasket instead of lapping...I'm assuming...hopefully it's ok?
Hi guy's how do I wire charging light to my dominator
Hi. I am putting my 73 750 back together but cannot remember the routing of the wiring to the ignition switch. The photo shows what I have done but it doesn't look right. There was a small K&N aircleaner before which would have been easier.
My newly rebuilt' 57 Dominator (has done about 50 miles since new barrels, rings) discharges oil out of the engine breather pipe.
My 1957 Dominator came in pieces, it;s taken me 10 years to get it together.
However, there seems to be a problem, the tool tray doesn't fit.
Hello, I've read the technical section on here about the exhaust collar tightening procedure and can't see any mention of the use of anti-seize substances so I guess it's best not to?
I'm using the brass / bronze type collars.
Hi All
I need to replace the crankshaft oil seal on my 72 Commando as it leaks into the primary case badly.
Hello, I´m searching for a speedo cable for a 1932 Big4.
It´s the type with the early mounting to the chronometric.
See picture.
Is anybody reproducing these cables?
Thanks
Kurt
Just had a news feed pop up on my phone to say that the Ulster man Tommy Robb has died, aged 90.
No association with Nortons AFAIK, famously rode for Honda to great success in the 1960s.
I am wondering if anyone ever got their hands on a 8 gear 6speed as featured in the Roadholder ,written by Barry Stickland
Thinking of getting a new 961 can anyone recommend the best insurer
I have a classic multi bike policy but cant add the new bike to this without it doubling the cost,so was recommended to get a separate policy
I have bought a 1960 Dominator 99 and dismantled the clutch to find the clutch spider centre is in a worn condition and is a sloppy fit on the gearbox spline's.
Hi All,
Time for me to check the torque setting of my head nuts, but I don't have the right socket for the job. Can someone advise please what size should I be getting? I assume I'll need a thin wall socket as clearance is tight.
Has anyone recently had experience of getting an exhaust system black chromed, or even any black finish. Would appreciate details of a company who can do this.
Hi all, Canada calling. I have taken over finishing a project started by a good friend who has passed away. This to complete the project for the family.
