I contacted Norton Motorcycles in Solihull to ask when we might expect to see some new models.Yesterday I received the following prompt reply:

Hi as my bike was rebuilt with an Avonaire fairing, my front forks are very hard - side car weight
springs were added and without the fairing, it tends to crash around on our bumpy potholed roads.

I'm trying to ID this works fuel tank...could it be from one of the Domi Racers.....

This bike has been in pieces for 30 years. Now starting on the wiring for it. I have a wiring diagram but would like to try and keep the wiring direction as original as possible. Here are some questions.

 .... does anybody know what glue to use to attach the small plastic Norton badge/medallion to the hole in the headlight shell?
I have tried a few glues, including contact glue, instant glue but it just falls out.

..not a performance enhancement...

Is it possible to buy new rubber seals, grub screws etc? 
Mine vibrated off today - luckily fell into the space behind the headlight so was able to refit once I found an Allen key that fitted. However the rubber seal is really brittle.

Please advise, Changing the Main Bearings on my 71/72 Commando from Ball and Roller to Superblends.   Superblends supplied have the inner race removable.  Question which way round do they go?  i.e do the Rollers go on the Crank first and a secured

I have a 1974 Commando frame with swinging arm and rear gearbox cradle plus some odds and sods, oil tank battery tray and Z plates, with a current V5 logbook.

I've often seen a technique for removing bushes from blind holes involving a well-fitting bar and oil.

How on earth can I order something from the norvil website? There doesn't seem to be an ordering process that I can see.......

Evening all. Have taken the clutch apart today to enable work on the gearbox. Found a small piece of metal loose in the bottom of the basket. Appears that it is one of the rivets/pegs that secure the clutch back plate.

My Maintenance Manual & Instruction Book (Publication 105/P) tells me at para 33 that with the weight of the bike on the wheels there should be 3/8" to 1/2" slack in the rear chain.

Hi I've just finished my 1936 model 18 and have done just over 100 miles of test runs. The bike feels a little over geared to me with the 21 tooth sprocket that came with it so I'm looking to change this to a smaller one.

Does anybody know why an ignition coil gets hot. 
I was running my Dominator just off the battery, and it got really warm, it's a MA12coil 12v battery.
Also does anybody know what i can do to fix this.

I finally had the Electra running this morning - I've been struggling but think the problem has been under the tank - maybe a short somewhere. However.....

Has anyone any experience fitting a decompression plate (and gaskets) to their Combat? It would also appear to require longer pushrods. Is that it?

Need a pair for my old girl which runs 12v twin coil.  So a pair of lb05f 5ohm caps about 14" long.  All I can find is kits or bits to make them up myself - never done this and don't really want to start now.

Hi All, I am searching to find a supplier for an engine and gearbox sprocket for a 1929 Norton Model 18. The engine shaft taper on these early bikes is smaller than the later machines and the Sturmey Archer gearbox spline is also smaller.

When out for a run to run in my 1960 Dominator 99 I heard a bit of a tapping sound, I thought a valve tappet needed adjusting.

Hello, I've been searching for GTX 20/50 and come to a dead end unless I import it, I've seen plenty of GTX 10/40 and Castrol XL 20/50 but I don't know what that is. Does anyone know if it's been superseded?

What's going on with the offset counter bore, does it serve any purpose ? Looks like a squish band but what not full circle ?

The Dominator 99 I took over is fitted with bronze/steel clutch plates. (I assume sintered bronze).

I recently borrowed the 6v coils on my Mk3 to test on another bike. Now I've put them back on the Commando I have developed a serious backfire on one cylinder.
