Hi, I have a complete M designated AMC gearbox and a similar complete AMC N designated Norton gearbox Shell.
I thought I'd just check the tappet clearances on my Electra. I've read about the struggle people have had wriggling the tappet covers past the steering head reinforcing plates.
Hi all . Just been dismantling the clutch on my jubilee restoration and found that there was no 3/8 inch ball bearing in the actuator mechanism and the push rod was slightly bent ( parts ordered ) . What effect would this have on the clutch ? .
Hi,
I have been contacted by a lady who has inherited a 1972 (Norvil ?) Commando. It is believed to have been imported from the USA in 1996. There is a suggestion that it has some racing history.
After the MotoGP on ITV4 Monday evening there was one of Henry Cole's programmes, Junk & Disorderly, featuring a Norton single with an electric start.
Hi all, I'm Jeff and I live in Florida, USA. I am beginning the rebuild for my Grandfather's 54 Model 7, Dominator 88. I am not a mechanic, but I can usually figure things out with some help. Some background, Granddad bought her new in 54. It
My rebuild/restoration of a '62/3 650SS is progressing apace. I'm aware that originally, this bike would have been fitted with a pair (well, one and a half) of Monoblocs. I don't have any of those but I do have a pair of 30mm Mk1 Concentrics.
I went to the Motorcycle Live Show at the NEC today. I mistakenly thought that Monday would be quiet rather than a weekend, but no, it was full of people.
The NOC Spares shop lists a clutch cable #25037 for Jubilee & Navigator, Post engine 106838.
Hi all,
Oil changes to sae 40 and ep90 in the box, head and rocker bolts nipped down and no leaks!
I have a 500 dominator with single carb the one on it is a monobloc 376/18 can anyone tell me if this is correct for this engine please
I am nearing the end of restoring a '47 Inter model 30. The only rubber seals for the primary case that I seem to be able to find are the ones supplied by the club, RGM and Andover Norton, measuring approximately 9mm thick and 24 mm wide.
How good are they?
Rowena and Frank W swear by them.
My '72 Commando starts and runs really well, especially after fitting a Tri-spark ignition system.
Morning all . I just thought I would send an update on my jubilee rebuild. Frame and suspension has been sand blasted etch primed and undercoated along with various other part's. Tank still to clean out . Head blasted and painted.
Just renewed my membership today! Was riding my 1967 Norton 650SS for the last time this year today as well. It is not a numbers matching bike nor is it in standard trim but I love it.
hi there.
So since I finished my 38 model 18 I fancied a full restoration this time So was very lucky to stumble across this one and being literally just down the road from me! You never know what's lurking in garden shed.
Has anybody noticed a click sound coming from roadholder forks when under compression.
It is not unduly harsh or loud but definitely there every time you compress the forks, and it seems to emanate from the middle somewhere.
Hello,
Carrying out engine overhaul on a 650SS I acquired in May this year. Nice looking machine on the outside, but have found a number of horrors inside the motor.
Evening
With regards to the cables are they the same for both? I only have the one here which I think was for the choke.
Bike is a 1956 Dominator 600
Thanks
I've booked a day off work to visit https://www.motorcyclelive.co.uk/ in Birmingham. The bike manufacturers seem to be offering lots of trial rides and experiences - I hope to try the Honda 750 Trans-alp on the indoor off road course - that will
I am about to put the electrics on a 1959 dominator. Which up to now has had none, as the whole bike is made from separate pieces and not a complete machine needing restoration.
Hi,I've noticed that RGM and Norvil's pistons are a third of the price of Andover Norton's. Are AN's that much better than the cheaper ones?
Having bitten the Commando, and received a mighty box of tricks in return from Norvil I find that I cannot use Scintered Clutch Plates,or the original and best Ham Can Air Filter assemblage , I seem to remember someone on the forums saying the
One of the missing items from my bike is the Petcock I think it was removed when the tank was sent for chrome.
Can anybody point me in the right direction as to the correct version for a 1956 Dominator 99?
