Hello, I recently bought a 750 Commando, VIN plate says Oct 1972, all stamped numbers match.
Just wonder if anyone knows what the items shown are for? It's been imported form the USA if that helps. 

Every now and again i peruse the Commandos for sale on Ebay. The ones that are a private sale are the better ones. The bikes from dealers are frankly shocking.

Trying to erect a 1940 motorbike in Vancouver is really tough. I have included a photo of the problem. I have spent ages trying to work this out. Looking at the photo does the brake lever on the back wheel look in the right place?

My coil ignition 99 has been running a bit off for sometime , I have swapped carbs a few times with no improvement so am now going through the ignition system , to see exactly what is happening I am going to strobe it .

Hi, what factor should I get my Dominator 99 balanced to?
It has new pistons and new thunder engineering rods.

Before, I do the timing, could someone tell me how I initially get the right position on the timing chain for a Distributor on a 99 Dominator please.

Dear all, looking at future maintenance needs of my Electra I have spent some time looking for NOS pistons but with no luck from all the usual.sources.   The only pistons I can find are modern manufacturer JP Pistons and rings made in Australia. 

I'm not sure if this really belongs on the Technical Forum, please forgive me if not,  but I'm trying to find out more about the John Player Norton road bikes produced in 1974.

A minor thing that is annoying. When looking at spares pages and scroll/browse down to the bottom, then click next page and you are at the bottom of the next page rather than the top. So you have to scroll up, then down to select the next page.

Hi another oddball info request.

On the verge of buying new main bearings for a 650SS engine. 
I have read a lot of info on the forum regarding the main bearings and have decided to go for the following:
Drive side FAG NJ306E 
Timing side BL306 (11 balls) 

Can anyone tell me which is the correct spring for my 1960 jubilee ? I ordered one from club spares ( 22408 ) not sure how it fits . I also have the spring hook . 

Hi. 1973 750 with hydraulic front brake. I have drained down the master cylinder to replace hose etc. I removed the lever to paint the master cylinder but now I am having trouble refitting the lever.

Hi. My Navigator gearbox had all the usual leaks when I purchased the bike. I have now cured all the leaks except the kick starter shaft. I replaced the original o ring set up with a square section seal, but it's still leaking badly.

From pictures I have seen, Electras of that vintage all appeared to have a black frame and tubes and sheet metal was either 2 tone, silver or black.  Mine has chrome fenders and an odd green colour on the sheet metal and tank.

Time's up got to admit it I need an ES or i dont get to enjoy my 1972 Commando. This is the situation:

I need to fit new X rings to the kickstart and gearchange shafts. Am I right in thinking that to fit O rings to the inner gearchange spindle that I take the inner cover off and then the gearchange components can be slid out?

The flow on the tank return is a continuse flow.This is the same after a 40 mile run and rises and falls with the engine rpms. Is this normal for a engine with a return filter or a sign of  to much oil in sump.

The things you come across in our hobby are both frustrating and rewarding. Just when you think you've got one thing sorted, something else comes up. That's frustrating now, but when solved, it just adds to the satisfaction.

Could anyone advise me if a multi grade oil (Millers classic pistoneeze 20W50 would be ok to put in my M50 gearbox? .

Hi, could anyone tell me if there's any pre-made harnesses out there to buy with the WIPAC connectors to lights and ignition?

With my uncles bike I have been trying to get a spark out of the Magneto and gave it a clean and kicked it over a couple of times. 

I've been given a beautiful polyester tank for my Surrogate Manx racer project. However, the inside is a mess and definitely needs a proper coating.

Not sure if I'm correct here but in ACTIVE FORUM TOPICS, new messages drive the subject line to top of list. Yet I am seeing topics on the top level but when I look into the posting I sew no NEW submission which usually has a yellow background.

I have bought the oil filter kit for the Navi but at a quick glance I cannot figure out how it fits. Has anyone fitted one?
I have seen a few pictures of filters fitted, but none that use the NOC Shop parts.

I want to remove the swingarm from my Navigator.  I was hoping it would be a simple job, its looking increasingly like its going to get quite involved!

Any hints and tips please.

I have heard of some members having fitted a side stand to the small front engine plate. I am looking to do something similar as I don't want to fit the standard one to the frame.

Hi all, I have a Norton dominator 99 1955 with an oil tank and battery box that the top mount on both boxes don't attach to anything. I have looked at the technical drawings on Norton Andover and can't work out what they connect to?
