Some time ago I purchased an external oil filter with the intention of fitting it on my 1950 Norton ES2. Has anyone fitted one of these and do they cause any problems.
Thanks Keith.
After a 35 year gap in Commando ownership I'm planning to get an 850 when the right one comes along. I have seen a good Interstate for sale but I prefer the Roadster.
I have a reprint of an article that appeared in the October 9, 1952 edition of Motorcycling, the author, Cyril Quantrill describes his travels aboard a 596cc Norton Inter that had been built for him by the works in 1948, the bike sounds like it wa
Hello Nortophiles, have a look at this steering damper. It was fitted, purely cosmetically, to my 1950 ES2 when I bought it as a restoration project. I now have the correct Bakelite arrangement fitted, but what is this, can you help?
I am trying to fit a new set of seal holders to my Navigator short Roadholders. The thread on the seal holder seems to be slightly too large to screw into the fork legs. I'm guessing that the plating is causing the problem.
I have a single Mikuni 34mm fitted to my 1970 750 Fastback and I've jetted it according to the info in the American "Tech Digest" That recommends a 3 cutaway slide.
I'm thinking or treating my garage to a dehumidifier.
Since getting my 1972 Commando back in the summer, it has been difficult getting from neutral into 1st (accompanied by unpleasant graunching and a bit of a lurch forward) Needles to say I have not ridden it much in this state!

Thank you both for the interest and advice regarding my MP Forks.
After a severe car accident I have a large amount of metal in both legs preventing me from starting my 1972 commando. I have owned it for the last 30 years.
My 1996 Commando went in the shed 31 years ago and came out a few months back looking like it was ready for a bit of TLC.

I participated in the Spa event last year after attending the event on a number of occasions as a spectator. Riding my Norton on the Spa circuit lived up to expectation as the track is terrific and the setting spectacular.
I have an ES2 with a 1950 engine (number E427...) in a 1957 frame (number M978...). The cylinder head appears to be cast iron. Does anyone know if this is correct for a 1950 engine? If so, when was the change to an aluminium head?
Hello To All NOCers The Big Classic Bike Killer Bio-ethanol, It does not like our motorcycles, it eats your petrol tank sealant in the tank and is will cause corrosion in the tank and to the carburettor and possibly the valves and seats.

I have recently taken my timing cover off and noticed score marks on the top of the Oil Pump and also on the crankcase from the timing chain. The Timing chain does seem loose but I dont see any way of adjusting it.
Cheers all - I'm interested in a bike at Parkside Classics in Cambridge, but after an exchange of e-mails, the proprietor suddenly decided he wouldn't sell a bike to me without me seeing it in person.
I have been asked if anyone out there has a 650SS previously registered to a John Badham. Unfortunately, there are no Engine No. or Frame No. available but we do know it was the standard black and silver colours and was in the Swansea area.
My 1960 Dominator is fitted with MP (Metal Profile) forks and I need to change the Oil Seals in the top of the fork legs.
The oil-pump on my 1936 Model 18 is badly worn. No wonder, it is possibly 74 years old .It gives enough pressure for the pressure indicator-pin to pop up, so I guess it is ok.
