Crank identification - 060732
I've just acquired an old flywheel and the two cheek plates for a Norton twin, understanding they were for a 750 Atlas?? Commando. The flywheel has the part number 06 0732 cast into it.

Hi there
I have a 1973 Mk1 Commando with engine and frame matching numbers. 304976 build date 6/73.
I have just noticed the Gear box has 304975 stamped on it .
I believe the machine to be original with 9000 miles.
Hi All,
My 1954 ES2 motor has developed 2 annoying oil leaks.
Could someone enlighten me on the position of the tacho and speedo on above model? I have the speedo on the right (offside?) and the tacho on the left (nearside?).
Has anyone a good picture of the decals and lines on the petrol and oil tanks of a 1929 big 4.
The tank has a pastry crust edge so looking for good detail of this area also. Thanks Robert.
...thought that'd get your attention. My 1950 ES2 has several missing grease nipples, they were too mangled post-restoration. What should I be ordering for the steering head bearing points and the plunger grease points.
Please, Al Osborne, can you give me the Roadholder issue number where you explained how to test an alternator? I can't lay my hand on it.
Does anyone know if these will fit a de Luxe Navi with its original tinware? Cheers, Lionel
In this part of the world, lipped rollers for singles seem to be just about unavailable. Other bikes of the era used ballbearings, has anyone tried three RLS 8 bearings in an ES2.
Hi there. I need to find a Crankase Halves Assembled for my 1972 Commando, but at Norvil and OldBritt this part is quite of expensive, and I had no luck in Ebay. Anyone has another guess on where I could find it?
77 Mk 111 Commando - Both the rev counter and speedo lights don't work, tried everything to no avail.

Hi All,
Does anyone have an illustration of the speedo mounting plate used on the 1931 Model 20 ? And possibly how it fits the front forks?
Thanks,

I am rebuilding an atlas (Matchless) engine, circa '65 and am taking the primary apart to get to the engine. Question, although I've rebuilt my 72 commando a few times, I am unfamiliar with the clutch on this bike. It has the 3 springs.
When loosening the banjo bolts to check for oil feed to the rocker spindles onmy 750 Commando, how much oil should exude?
On Sunday 5th June the Yorkshire branch will be having a rideout and meeting up with the Roadholder editor (Ian Wooley). There are 2 opportunities to join the ride.
Can anybody out there quote chapter and verse on Norton wheel sizes in the late 1920s and through the 1930s?

What is the accepted way to measure cam bush wear? I assume a dial indicator on the cam shaft with the cam installed in the cases, but cant find what amount of clearance is acceptable.
I am in the process of rebuilding the bottm end of my 850 and with repacing the two mains, I have measured the endfloat and am seeing it at 0.003".
I have just searched the website in vain for this as I had a hunch it was in the History section. I want to date a couple of 'dolls head' gearboxes I have and hoped to find numbers and dates listed.
Hi all,Cananyone tell me the correct angle of the headstock on a slimline featherbed frame, and where I should measure this angle to?The headstock on my project slimline makes an angle of 67.5 degreesto the bottom frame rails, and I am concerned t
Hi all - hope you are all well. I've got a '75 MkIII and am almost back on the road following a long refit. I noticed my headlamp silvering is a little oxidised and it has prompted me to thiink about the best lighting available.
Hi,
I live in Milton Keynes and have for many years owned but not used a 750 Commando Interstate. I have long dreamed of getting it running again, and if I don't do it now I never will!
I was just curious if anyone here is going to the International Norton Rally in the USA ? I live about 9 hours away, so I am doing & have my ticket. It would be great to put a face to the name.
