I have just completed a 700 mile tour of Eire on my 1947 Model 18 and much to my relief, nothing untowards went wrong with the bike other than an electrical charging problem just before we boarded the ferry to sail back to the UK.
Now I am home I can get to the heart of the matter.
1) Checked the dynamo = no charge
2) Checked the brushes and commutator = all OK
BUT when trying to rotate the armature using the kick start = NO ROTATION !!!
Magneto is fine, so I assume that the fibre gear is at fault.
NOW MY PROBLEM IS ...
Can anyone advise me how to get the camwheel sprocketoff without causing me any more stress.
The magneto sprocket popped off nice and easy with my sprocket removal tool, but there is not enough clearance arounf the camwheel sprocket for me to use the tool again.
Many thanks
Ian
