1949 ES2 valve lifter problem

Forums

No sooner have I got one thing sorted then ...

My ES2 has recently developed a valve lifter "issue" and not having much experience of such matters I am somewhat perplexed.

Being something of a novice, having never (as yet) had the cylinder head off a bike yet (remember those days?) I am not too sure what is going on.

When I try and raise the valve lifter, the actual lever on the cyclinder head moves as far as it physically can, but most of the time fails to lift the valve sufficient to allow decompression. I have adjusted the thumb screw/spring as much as possible to no avail.

I suspect that something is going wrong internally, but don't know what to expect.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

TIA

Please ignore previous question.

ALL SORTED

I did not realise that it was possible to rotate the actual arm on the valve lifter shaft (so to speak).

I think that it was working loose and consequently not raising the exhaust valve properly.

Derrrrrrrrrrr
