General engine restoration
Can I ask if anybody has any reccomendations for a general engine refurbishment of a 1946 Model 18. I don't have the time or expertise to do this myself. I am based in the Midlands.
Grateful for any information.

Hello everyone, Happy New Year, roll on the Spring. Talking of spring(s), I am about to rebush my long Roadholder front forks as part of a front end overhaul. Question is, can this be done with the stanchions left in place in the yokes?
Re: Domi 99 pistons
Sorry to bring up the piston topic again!
I have re-mounted the oil filter mounting and am using a standardAmerican car oil filter mounting. Can anyone recommend a standard car filter of the same dimentions that has the appropriate pressure / flow / etc.
It was a dry day and from what i hear the only dry day we are due for a while so i thought a good chance to give the bike a run. Sitting at a junction when a kindly older lady ran into the back of me.
I have an early roadster 1971, my top fin on the barrel is missing a part of the fin, goingto have a crack at welding it, any suggestions, hope fully I wont distort the barrel and will keep away from the mating face.
I have a mk2a 850 Roadster and want to fit an oil pressure gauge in the area of the top yoke or standard instruments has anyone any suggestions or advice no where to get one.
Happy New year to everyone.
My 1961 Navigator De Luxe has a LUCAS ammeter fitted in the standard headlight shell. The electrics are standard 6V Wipac including a Wipac light unit and Wipac switches.
Hi all,
I am wanting to re-chromate the crankcases etc of my Manx.
Does anyone know how to do this or where I can have it done?
Thanks

I believe I have an Alfin Barrel for an ES2. It has 9 fins which I believe indicates it is an ES2 design barrel. I have some questions though.
Yesterday Tony Williams and me made about 100 frost icy miles on our rigid singles. We saw cars wrecked in hedges, but nothing stopped our Unaproachable Nortons despite numb fingers and grit in my eye.
The OEM shocks on my Atlas are shot and I was looking at replacements. Are Hagon shocks worth the extra cost ? Or are there better options available without breaking the bank ?
Hi,
My Commando has an AP Lockheed master cylinder and Caliper, there is no brake light switch fitted to it and I was wondering if anyone with a similar set-up had one fitted. Also what fittings were used to achieve this.

I am an ebay virgin;I have sold but I have not bought anything on ebay.
I believe this is a common irritation. I have a 13" Norvil disc fitted to a 1972 Commando, but it rattles and the noise travels up through the bars and drives you nuts.
My 71 Fastback commando has 29LJT25 bearings fitted, I can't find these bearings, does anybody know of a equivalent to use as a direct replacement.
Sorry if this upsets any traditionalists but I am building a `special` with an 500 OHV / upright box / rigid frame all circa 1950s. I have most bits but no chaincase.
I believe the arm length (pivot to the operating rod) on my bike is too short as I dont have clearence between the operating rod and the rear footpegs. The bar fouls slightly on the rod.

Hi all.I have just fired up my domi 99 - actually a 1957model 77 motor in a 58 featherbed frame, and i have a problem with too much oil going to the rockers so that the inlet is filling with oil.
Everyman to his own and we all do the modifications we see fit to our bikes, but I've got my twin mk1 Amals running perfectly.
I am fairly new to commandos and am removing the head on a 71 roadster what size are the cylinder head boltsmy halfords set sockets seem slightly to large got the two front one`s off with a 9/16 the rest are a mystery
Thanks Steve
Sorry guys more help please - the other leak, (besides the oil bath!!) is from where the kickstart enters the gearbox. Are there seals and 'O' rings as it is not obvious from the various manuals. Thanks
Hello,
For many years I've dreamed of riding Route 66 and it's on my "bucket list" to do before it's too late. This could be the year if I could find some like minded enthusiasts for company. Anybody here done this before?
An error during setting of the 2014 NOC calendar has resulted in Easter Weekend being marked 2 weeks too early.
How can the Dommi inlets and exhausts be distinguished reliably? I have seen elsewhere that the exhausts are non-magnetic.
The leak from the oil bath is a flood rather than a trickle and I have searched the message archives and there is a great thread on a the above tape which I want to give a try. Does anyone know if it's available in the UK?
