I am an ebay virgin;I have sold but I have not bought anything on ebay.

I am looking at a registered 1975 Commando [probably made in 1974] on ebay; the description says and I quote "the seller assumes all responsibility for this listing" What does this mean!!!!!!!??????

I have only 2 days left on the Auction. Can you help???

Hi Roger, I use / browse e-bay quite a lot and have bought and sold bikes on there. I think that this means that the person advertising the bike is solely responsible for the description and if it subsequently turns out that something is wrongly described then it is the fault of the advertiser and not ebay. It is a legal cop-out which means that if the seller says its a 75 and then it turns out that its a 73 (and that is a problem) then you must persue the seller for compensation, not ebay.Cheers Alan Clarke

If it's the one described as "needs full restoration" then I think the seller has pretty well covered themselves in respect of any comeback.

The less the seller puts the more room to get out of it they get. If they go into detail you have points which you can bring up against them if it turns out they where not correct.

An old man who had only ever had motorbikes as his only transport an had rode over many years an all weathers everything from AJS to Vincent's allways said when you buy it assume it is all worn out an f##ked an pay according that way you won't be disappointed when you find out it is.
