Front brake light switch

Forums

Hi,

My Commando has an AP Lockheed master cylinder and Caliper, there is no brake light switch fitted to it and I was wondering if anyone with a similar set-up had one fitted. Also what fittings were used to achieve this.

Hi Roger, this is a popular conversion to do away with the rather wooden feeling Norton standard brake (also made by AP Lockheed incidently) People generally fit the master cylinder from the Bonneville but this as you rightly point out doesn't have a brake light switch fitted. You can get round this quite simply by using a brake switch/ banjo bolt available from Venhill, the cable people. If you have a look at their websight you will see they do a banjo bolt with the correct UNF thread to fit the threads in the master cylinder for about £16 (if I remember correctly). You may also need to change the brake pipe depending on what you have fitted.

Thank's for that Alan, I will look into that.
