speedo cable inner length
How long should the speedo cable inner be? Specifically, how much cable inner should show at the speedo end?

Hi everyone. I've been an NOC member for some time but this is my first forum post, so apologies in advance if I'm contravening etiquette somehow.
There was a post on this subject (I think in News or Events) back in May, I can't find anything via the search facility using e.g. 2020 (lot's on INOA & Herstmoceaux, etc)), Portugal (a few old posts), Evora (nothing).
I have a question, which thankfully did not become a problem. In march i purchased a 99 project bike which (hold your breath) i decided to build as a Triton. It came with a buff log book which shows registration on 19/4/60, as a 99 600cc.
I've drained the EP140 I had in it and am about to fill with 40 grade.
My TLS drum brake has been reworked on a lathe, brake shoes also adjusted and a stiffening kit added. Everthing is lubed with copper paste. When I roll to a traffic light or a stop sign the brake does not open up when pulled.
I'm recommissioning my monoblock 376 carb from my 1958 Domi 88.
Hi All, I'm riding to and have got my ticket for the Motorcycle Megameet 2019 on Sunday 11th Aug, Popham Airfield Winchester SO21 3BD
I was wondering if anyone else is going with their Norton?
Regards, Alan
Just fitted a pair a new pair of amal 932 carbs to my Commando, noticed that it takes longer to tickle one carb to get fuel out.Found this on other bikes I have had,any thoughts?
Thanks for letting me join, I've recently refurbished a 750 Commando 1971, is there anyone in the Merseyside St Helens area with Commandos?
Cheers Chris
I see the results of this survey in the current version of Roadholder. It does look encouraging, but where on earth do they get their numbers from?
Received my renewal membership confirmation in the post today. To say it is naff is an understatement compared with the quality cards we have had in the past.
Hello, I´m rebuilding a 1948 international from
parts for use on street.
What would be the best carburettor for this purpose.
Thanks Kurt
Can anyone tell me what temperatures to expect for cast iron cylinder barrels when operating? 750 Combat motor .
Thanks - Richard
just a heads-up for all NorthEast NOCccers(and others from further afield).
The above event takes place on 8th September. I am entered on my Norton Mercury and look forward to a few runs up the hill.
It´s gearbox trouble August, I guess seeing the threads in the Lightweight forum!
So I thought I,d join in!
I have a 88SS fitted with a normal cylinder head. I noticed that 'Hollandnortonworks.eu' supply a Dominator SS cylinder head (EUR 1600) that they say will fit my bike.
Hi, Im slowly getting my Commando Mk2 rebuilt.
I needed to get the left footrest hanger and brake lever re-chromed. Just sent for 1 quote so far which was 150.00 + VAT upwards.
What does the team think for a 1952 laydown box? I've put in 140 grade gear oil but am thinking that it may be a bit thick and contributing to the poor downward changes.
My bike is fitted with an incorrect light switch for a magneto model, please see photo. I wondered if the following parts from the NOC online catalogue would be correct:
part 31784 switch, light, 3 position.
Anyone been in communication with Ken in NZ lately? I got an automated response from an order on June 22 and then no communication to subsequent emails.
Thanks,
Mike
Has anybody found they have a false neutral between 3rd and 4th, also sometimes jumps out of 4th unless very positive with change. Not long finished rebuilding and wondering what I might have got wrong. Gearbox is the early Navigator type.
The manuel advance retard doesn't seem to be moving enough towards the retard side. When moving lever on handlebars it seems not to be moving the whole distance that the lever moves.
I have been asked to post this by a member who 'does not do computers'.
I have an old bolt up dommie frame.
Could I fit an ES2 engine and laydown gearbox in it without any frame mods?
If so, could I just use engine/gearbox plates as used briefly on later wideline/slimline singles?
Can anyone tell me the tyre pressures for a 350 Navigator please.
Thank you
Andy James
Probably a stupid question, but how do you move a dolls head gearbox forward? I obviously know that screwing in the adjuster pushes it back, but can't make out how to go the opposite direction. Many thanks in advance.
My 99SS came with a 750 Commando engine installed, and with the original engine as a spare. To which the PO had done horrible things.
Hi all - I am looking for input regarding my cam bushes. 750 Combat - s/n 209xxx - plain cam journals - scrolled bushes .
