Ive just fitted a new Primary case seal to my 1949 ES2, cut to size as instructed and not overtightened the outer case either, Still leaks !!! Is this a common feature to these singles that I will just have to live with ?
Hi, After the excellent reply to my query on the gearbox capacity of the Navigator could I now ask what the primary drive capacity is please.
I bought one, might not be correct, I can't figure out how/where in goes, and can't find a photo. IA pic would be so helpful.

Newly on the road my 12v Boyer ignition Navigator with a new regulator seems to run fine, but the ammeter indicates a good +ve charge of up to 8amps (6V ammeter though) then will swing to -4 or there about at a highish rev, occas

Just about to fit a new Primary chain case seal (rubber band) to my 1949 ES2 to see if it will cure the leak at all, I pre fitted the new seal (bought through the NOC shop and it doesn't fit snug around the case, its pretty loose.
My bike has a belt drive fitted. This means that the alternator has to be spaced further out than with chain drive (bike purchased already modified) and this poses a problem with fitting a timing disc to the end of the crankshaft.

I haven't really understood the evolution of Norton clutches. There seems to be a number of different types in postwar years. Different number of plates, different plates, sometimes steel plates with tags out and sometimes in, even width of tags.
Can anyone assist please: is this a standard Amal TT carburettor? The inlet tube is missing. I'll be in touch with Surrey Carbs later, but the Amal publication says that the air tube must be factory fitted.

I have replaced the kick start oil seal twice now. The seal works for a few months and then it begins weeping again. Any ideas on how i can reolve this in a more permanent way ?
