Hi all, daft question I’m sure but what should the oil ring gap be? It’s on standard bore, just been honed and is well within tolerances. 
 

I can’t find what the gap should be in the manuals or on the internet.

Good morning, I am rebuilding a 1958, 99. The bike was bought as a barn find which had alloy mudguards. I want to return it to standard.

I am slowly working through some issues with the Electra a bought around a year ago and have moved on to looking at why it smokes quite badly when running.

Hi. I am Completely overhauling a 16h. And I am having trouble with purchasing the top and bottom cup & cone bearings for the head stock. I’ve seen some on an ebay site, but they say that they come from India.

Has anyone had experience of the Electrex CDI and alternator?

Trawled forum but no info about what the 750 colur chart calls signal orange.

During an earlier discussion on the problems oil getting from the gearbox into the primary chain case someone (forgotten who) stated that he used EP90 oil in his gearbox. So, what should I do ?

Is it possible to buy a Peter Williams replica helmet nowadays? I've had a bit of a look without success.

Bike is 1959 Dommi '99'

Just been scanning the News topics and noticed the New Online Technical Books. Wow! This is brilliant, particularly the Electrics book. I have some of the articles, but having them all condensed into one publication with an index is fantastic.

Working on an Electra that was pulled apart by a Norton dealer in Kansas many years ago so things could be a bit mixed up. With the engine mainly finished I am now looking at the primary drive.

I’m looking for centre stand bushes p/n 55.0146. Andover don’t have them and neither do RGM or NOC.

anybody know where I will find some?

I’m attempting to rebuild the contents of several tatty cardboard boxes into a 1960 Dommie 99 (slimline frame).

My bike is a 72 Roadster (not combat), grey import from the USA 10-15 years ago. Good compression, feels like it should have more torque. I've measured valve lift on 1 exhaust and 1 intake valve, about 160 thou for both.

Can anyone tell me how the rubber straps fit into the battery carrier on a MK1 Commando?

When I got mike bike, they were missing so I have no point of reference (I am undertaking a complete rebuild at the moment).

A mate of mine has suggested that an extra long kickstart lever is available for commandos. He is looking for one so that his girlfriend can start the 850 he is building for her.

Depending on what literature I have , the valve clearance varies from 0.002” inlet, 0.003” exh. to 0.003” inlet , 0.005”  exh. Any advice as to the recommended settings ?
