Hello. Just to set the scene I inherited a 1963 88 sport with a 1966 650ss engine. Well a 650ss crank and head with a 99 barrel anyway.
I am grounding, I think the centre stand and probably need new shocks but read about fitting these 2" longer and wondered if anyone has tried this? To make the most of grippy modern tyres, or maybe longer knees??
My old faithful Commando 850 Mk2a has performed wonderfully these last 30 years but recently has been playing up. The symptoms are simply that it starts well and rides well, but after 10 miles or so, it cuts out. Abrupt and complete.

Does anyone have a rolling starter they don't now need? Alternatively can anyone direct me to a source for one?

Does anyone produce a swept back pipe for the above please?

This is a serious question. Apart from the new Nortons (both Garner era and TVS) the vast majority of Nortons on the roads are not required to pass an MOT. This does not mean a free pass to ride around on a bike that has obvious defects.
I see that Avon and Dunlop are not producing their 410 x 19 Tyres and they are no longer available
Any ideas of what to use as their replacements?.
Bit of a mystery, for whatever reason, number 6 headbolt down, and number 7 sleeve nut up have always had a tendency to come a bit undone, ok, live with it and nip it up, but this timeI thought I"d overdone it and lo and behold, Oil collecting on t
As always, I find myself doubting my judgement.
For three years I have battled unsuccessfully to cure a very notchy and difficult gear change on my Electra.
Was looking for the mounting ring for a pre-war BM Lucas ammeter. This is the type that has a spring loaded twist-on clamping ring. Just looking for the clamping ring and spring. Impossible to find here in the U.S. Found some photos on the int
Hello All,
New member here with a 1954 ES2.
Does anyone have a spare rear mudguard stay/lifting handle for a rigid Model 18 c.1947? Part number is A2/536.
I was idly scanning my bookmarks and came across it again. It's a cornucopia of excellent information on all sorts, written and maintained by a bloke who was in the motorcycle trade in the USA for many years.
Looking for information on a 1961 88SS.

Hi All,
I'm a new owner of a lovely 1966 Atlas (got it Fri) which I love more every time I go out on it but it has come to my attention that the front tyre is definitely in need of replacing.
Hoping this may help if you are planning on changing your clutch cush rubbers. First off I would suggest asking yourself if you really need to do it!
I have just become the new owner of an es2 1953 on starting and running the engine there seemed to be excessive amounts of oil coming from the the timing case breather, I removed the cover to se if there were any obvious problems and thought that

Hi all, I have a Thorspark ignition on my 64 Atlas which I am trying to get going. Everywhere I look a get the timing for fully advanced at 28 to 30 degrees. However, this is if it's running at revs - ie. when the ignition advances.
Hi, Has anyone tried the Girling floating disc on their Commando. Wondered if it would be an improvement.
Cheers
What model Lucas magneto came on this bike? The bike stopped running and i found that the ignition system was not working. When i took the cover off the mag i found a small plastic piece in the bottom of the points case.

I was noodling with the pilot air adjustment today, as part of investigations into the engine stumbling to a halt when hot & idling, and measuring the exhaust temperature with one of those handheld infrared thingamajigs.
Hi Guys,
I have a puzzle I can't figure out!
I am looking to put the engine and gearbox back into the frame.
I currently have the gearbox, swinging arm and main stand all bolted together.
