The mag on my 57 dominator 88 has a poor spark on one cylinder pobably because the contact breaker gap cannot be set the same and so the energy transfer will ok on one pot but not the other. The ring cam measures the same thickness on both lobes.
Wonder if you can help with advice ? I have a 1962 650 SS Norton and from the info I have it should have a speedo SC.3303/46 with drive BG.5330/257 ( 2-1 ratio ) and revcounter RC.1309/00 with drive BG.1508/05.
Sorry if this is off topic a bit (quite a lot really), but I wonder if a Commando owner out there might be able to help me by measuring an old head gasket?.
I have an Inter special. A 1949 engine installed in a bolted up wideline frame. There is no frame number because it seems to have been obliterated by a replacement DVLA number. I have realised that the frame does not have lugs for a centre stand.
I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I am rebuilding my Norton 16h WD. The bike came in a box and i am having to identify parts etc.. through owners manual and parts manuals.
Does anyone know how to disconnect the engine management light?
I have noticed that when an electronic voltage regulator is fitted the dynamo does not charge when the battery is disconnected whereas with a mechanical regulator it still charges and powers the lights. Any ideas why?
Dave from records has identified my box of jubilee bits as March 1963. There is a front wheel on ebay at the moment that fits a 650ss, nc15cs model 50 and a 400 electra. Would this fit a jubilee?. My spindle hole sizes are 22/32 and 9/16.
Noticed small oil leak into the primary chain case. Only leaks when the engine is running.
Where would it be leaking from.
Thanks
John.
My 1960 Slimline 99SS has a SLS front brake and Doherty handlebar levers. Both levers are worn and need replacing.
The clutch-lever (adjustable) measures 1" 1/16 between pivot and nipple centre.
Going through the huge list of things to do on my none runner. Clutch completely stuck so cleaned all the gunk from the housing and inspected the plates. The fiber plates look pretty wrecked.
The motoring community seems to be gradually waking up to the fact that Brexit will mean the return of those classic motoring experiences of applying for International Driving Permits (three types, although European excursions should require two a
I have enough cellulose blue paint for spraying my Jubilee. Just a bit worried about petrol damage to the cellulose painted petrol tank.
Hi there,
would anyone know the thread size of the cam plate locating screw please, 2 BA?
thanks on advance.
Iâve installed an aftermarket roller bearing tachometer drive, and the tach cable line looks like trouble. I need some ideas and suggestions. Iâve added a picture.
The filler cap on my MK2A Interstate fuel tank leaks when it's full. Fortunately the seal fittings are held in by a screw and not riveted, so I've tried fixing it myself.
I have a nos WD iron rear hub shell, and am preparing to assemble it as a hub for use on a road bike. It has not been machined for a speedo drive gearbox.
Having problems setting up my 56 Dommies laydown clutch, having even more difficulty finding a manual that sets out the procedure.
Are you the owner of LLR45K?
If so the first owner has given me a "motor fuel ration book" that was issued in the day for your bike. I can see it is still out there by dvla. So if it is you let me know and I will post it out to you.
When replacing the cable on my clutch recently, I found that the whole clutch body can move axially by between 20 to 30 thou. (Not measured accurately)
Is this normal? If not, what could be the problem?
Just completed total rebuild on my Mk 3. With jangling nerves started it up and we embarked on itsmaiden 'road trails'. Really pleased with the ride. Total contrast to BSA and Triumph TriplesI am used too.
Main problems are;
o.k., it's running reasonably well with the odd backfire through carb. it was fitted with a 389/45 when I bought it but it ran roughly so swapped it for a 389/17. this carb was originally fitted to 250 two strokes.
5 Years ago I bought JP pistons direct from Australia at that time they had a good web page which now as disappeared.
Hi Iâm somewhat of a Norton virgin, and am stripping down a 1952 Dominator 7 and am wondering how to remove the rear plunger units. I can remove the central rods okay (now) but am wondering how to compress the springs to remove.
I pulled the top end off my 38 Es2 motor to have a peek as to why it smoked at idle.
Note the bike has been sitting for at least 24 years.
The cylinder needs to be deglazed slightly.
I have a 51 Sunbeam S8 with a holder for an MOT disc. It means nothing here in the states but since I'm trying to get as close to the U.K. look as possible I'd like a 1951 MOT for it.
I'm considering electronic ignition and a 12v conversion for my Navigator. I have looked at both the Pazon and Boyer Bransden systems and both look very similar apart from the price and the Pazon seems to continue working at a lower voltage.
I've been slowly sorting through my boxes of bits for my Jubilee. I have a frame (together) and a set of forks in bits. It would appear that the steering pin? and bearings are missing to fit the frame to the forks.
