Chronometric clocks for 1962 650 SS

Forums

Wonder if you can help with advice ? I have a 1962 650 SS Norton and from the info I have it should have a speedo SC.3303/46 with drive BG.5330/257 ( 2-1 ratio ) and revcounter RC.1309/00 with drive BG.1508/05. What I have is speedo 1550 SC.3303/01 with drive BG.5330/847 ( 19-10 ratio ), 19" rear wheel, and revcounter RC.83 with drive BG.1508/05. From what I have found the revcounter should be fine, but not so sure on the speedo. Any thoughts ?

Cheers,

John.

Chronometric speedometers are all essentially the same, whether 80mph, 120 or 150. (Even a D-shaped Bantam one has the same chronometric mechanism). They just rang the changes with the face, bezel and drive ratios. Take one to a specialist, and he will build it with a suitable face and correct gearing for your machine.

Tachos have a heavier-duty chronometric mechanism, but you can make a tacho out of a speedo. It just won't be as tough as a correct one. I once had a specialist make me a tacho for a BSA A10 with drive off the oil pump. It's a 3:1 drive of the opposite to normal direction. No problem....
