Electra JP Pistons

Forums

5 Years ago I bought JP pistons direct from Australia at that time they had a good web page which now as disappeared. I live in Alberta Can: and at that time it was the best way to go.I was thinking maybe they have stopped selling retail and are just supplying the trade. Also I see Norvil are now selling L/W pistons. Any opinions on these matters would be very helpful. Bryon

Bryon, if it helps I have been researching a source of Navigator over sizes pistons which are in very short supply in the UK. Although Norvil list Electra and Jubilee pistons in various sizes and the NOC shop lists some lightweight pistons the only other source I have found is JP Pistons. They list a full range of new manufacture Navigator pistons on Ebay so perhaps Electra pistons are still available. I have also contacted a very reputable precision engineering company called Thomas Hamblin & Co in Bridgwater Somerset who specialise in rebuilding classic car and motorbike engines. They can provide them in the UK at about £225 a complete set. I can supply their details if it helps although with the cost of shipping it is probably cheaper to get them direct from JP in Aus via Ebay. I can't advise over quality but if Hamblins use them then I would certainly be willing to give them a try.

I had a set of JP pistons in a 67 T90. I had to sweep one of them out of the crank case. It was like shrapnel. I would never have them ever again. They are rubbish. If anything you would be better off with Hepolite pistons. Yes, I know they are made in Taiwan, but, surprisingly I have heard good reports on them. Alternatively, there are Italian made jobs, but I cannot recall their name right now. I have been well recommended these by my local engineer.
