Electric start single on ITV

Forums

After the MotoGP on ITV4 Monday evening there was one of Henry Cole's programmes, Junk & Disorderly, featuring a Norton single with an electric start.

No details of the inner workings but it started the bike easily. Bike was identified as a 1952 Model 50. Might be of interest.

You'll have to put up with a load of Henry Cole guff but it's in the first half. Shown at 9pm Monday 18th and it's on ITV-X

A friend of mine had one on his Velo venom. He had plenty of issues with it initially, but they worked with him to improve the components and it was ok.  I trust they still offer it?

Electric ES2 N/S...on ITV X. Get the platform from ITV.com.   Free to subscribe and watch, although you still have to put up with the ads. No free lunch...show is from Current Series (ie 3), date Monday 18th November.

Bike is a green Wideline ES2. According to Millyard, the starter is off  Honda Benly and so most likely a shed conversion. Still a very neat job, the whole bike was in a good tidy condition when they bought it from Yeomans.

They do sell the bike on as a runner- no spoilers, but 'Enry makes a small profit.

... and thanks Michael for posting the pic so I don't have to endure Cole.......

I saw that episode too and heard mentioning it could be off a Honda Benly, hmm hmm? However, I'm not sure if they were actually sure, right

Ahem, yet, one of them, I think it's Guy, owns a Benly, so they should be able to recognise it.

Sorry, I'm making fun, but actually do enjoy the program. It's not always historically accurate, but it's got a positive vibe and can be quite interesting by times.

Back to the starter: I have to admit I'm quite interested to know how it works, as there must be some kind of spring loaded 'slip in and out' gear there. Or at least, that's the only construction I know off my old TX650.
