Evening all. Have taken the clutch apart today to enable work on the gearbox. Found a small piece of metal loose in the bottom of the basket. Appears that it is one of the rivets/pegs that secure the clutch back plate. Not sure if it fell out whilst I was taking it apart or it had fallen out prior to this. How are they fitted? Am I right in thinking the back plate is put in position and the pegs are pushed home to secure? Should they be mechanically secured or is it just a friction fit. Mine are small straight pegs. The AN catalogue shows pegs with a flat head. Thoughts?
Back plate.

Fresh rivets
The two pins on the early 750s are too small, I used to drill the holes out and put two larger counter sunk rivets back in.

I came across this last week changing the centre bearing in one of my bikes. This one was a 750 and had two of the small pins/rivets, where as the 850's have x 3 larger mushroom head rivets.
My fix was to put a socket over the hole and give it a tap. This exposed more of the rivet which I then punched over carefully with a punch.
