My Electra has two 6v batteries connected in series to give it a 12v system. If I want to charge them without taking them out the bike and doing them individually do I charge them at 12v or 6v?
Can anyone help with this? '55 ES2 with standard combined horn/dip switch. When I press the horn button the horn (sort of) beeps (almost inaudible unless bike is running) and the ammeter flicks across to the +ve side.
Without trending in all categories, I would just like to share some recent experiences! Applies to carbs and a little about dynamos.
Just in case any members have missed it The Shropshire Branch has changed it's venue to The Bradford Arms in Knockin. Still 2nd Thursday.
Forgive my abysmal ignorance on matters electrical guys but where does the insulating washer inside the horn push button on a mid fifties single go? Just under the cover at the top or between the handlebar and the unit?CheersGeorge
They say you should learn something every day. Today I was at the paint counter of a local motor factors-not my normal one- and I asked if he could mix Ford dove grey and quoted him a 1980 Ford paint code.
Hi,
Can anyone recommend a cylinder paint with which to black my cylinders / does anyone know what commando barrels were originally painted with?
Have used Granville but it doesn't seem to last.
Thanks, and BR,
Can't seem to find a decent description of what should be. I have a fair assortment of fittings that have come from our suppliers ,none of which seem to want to work together as they should.
My '74 Mk II continues to be a problem child with a significant oil leak from the 3rd fin up from the bottom. Have tried soft copper, and OEM fiber gasket, did use additional sealant contrary to many recommendations.
My father had a Norton, possibly an ES2, in the 1940s, registered CFM 132. does anyone know if it is still around ? I have owned my uncle's Model 18, since 1966, when I was 14 ! ; still love it to bits and only the second owner, from new.
Greetings from South Australia,
Early in my rebuild I ordered new clutch springs from RGM or Andover, thinking that since new springs are cheap, why not replace them.
I noticed today that the new ones are much lighter gauge than the âoriginalsâ
Hi, Somebody has a source for a pully and belt conversion for the magneto chain and sprokets? Otherwise drawings would help as well. Thanks!
I am just about to buy an Ariel, so I joined the Norton owners club!
My engine is so efficient that it no longer sprays oil onto the chain!, Just noticed its gone rusty, thats a first, Has anyone fitted an auto oiler to a dommy?.
I have purchased a 500T Norton, There is an old tax disc issued in 1970. I have contacted DVLA and am informed that I may not be able to retain the original reg number.
I am getting an intermittent fault with my Boyer electronic ignition.Sometimes I get sparks when I turn the ignition off or on andsometimes it works with no problems. I have double-checked thecircuitry and am at a complete loss.

So to make it more comfortable to follow an post I start part two of the story..
I found No 20873 rocker oilway grub screw(8) in the 1961/62 parts list. Guess these go into the holes on the spindle towers?
Thread size?
Is it true that some slimlines Dominators were produced in 1959?
Hi,
Should the jubilee have spacers on the top and bottom frame bolts...the bolts that attach the front down member to the frame rails?
I have recently restored a 1967 650ss and have only just got it running. I have found that after a few miles when the engine is warm, there is a steady trickle of oil coming out of the oil tank cap.
Does anyone know the diameter of the small hoes in the rocker banjo bolt? Not the big hole down the middle (although that would be of interest). I'm investigating reduced oil flow. Cheers - George
