Oil Pressure Relief Valve - Gone.
Just been out for a short ride when I realised that my right foot was getting rather oily - the large domed nut from the oil pressure relief valve in the timing cover had disappeared, along with its internals.

I'm having trouble with the auto advance not retarding it's self properly. I spent all day fiddling with it yesterday. New chain nice and slack, fitted new springs etc. Moves free enough?
Does anybody know the length of the single AMC ES2 / M50 gearbox mainshaft length. A distance over the end splines will do. I know there shorter than the Dommi twins but they all look the same without one agains the other.Cheers Tony
Having recently completed a restoration of my father's 1951 ES2 and had it running I was eager to get a few miles on the bike this year.
The "Recent Messages" section previously at the top right corner of the home page seems to have disappeared from normal view. Is this a glitch or has progress struck in that one now has to log in to see this feature ?
I'm trying to find out the value of a 1935 Norton Model 20 in mint / show winning condition with matching engine, frame, forks and gearbox numbers as well as the original registration number. If anyone can help please let me know.
I have a 60 box with a weak spring allowing the K/s to flip back.I know by replacing allsorts that the later arangement is better, however perhaps I could drill and fit the spring post and use the later spring, Anyone done this?.
Not trying to be a numpty here but are all K2f's the same or are they model specific? Would a K2F off a 1963 A10 Beeza fit a 1968 Atlas without modification?
Sorry I have had to delete this message as some aspects were wrong....Les
Can someone who has a genuine 500T (1939) please let me know how far the silencer end is from the rear wheel on a low level exhaust.
After trying many modern spray lubes I am of the opinion that a proper solvent wash to remove all the grit and a soak in old fashioned Low melting point graphite grease/wax is still the best for old style non O ring chain, which four bikes have.I
Hi,
Before I tear my transmission down, which I'm in no hurry to do, I wondered if this might ring any bells with anyone.

On my mk3 I have got stripped threads on the throttle body, where the master cylinder locates and on the ally seat retaining knurled knob, I would like to identify the thread type of these items and purchase thread repair kits soI would be gratefu

Hello, Is there anything particularly unique in the cylinder head of a 500T, or is it the same as an ali ES2?
The bracket, that is. I'm pretty sure the other thing is a 2p piece.
It - the bracket - fell out of the headlamp nascelle when I removed the lens.

Does the late 50's ES2 / M50 have a gasket between the c/case and timing cover or is it just assembled with your chosen gasket cement?
I met with a guy tonight who is putting together a package for Norton owners to basically have their alloy tanks wrapped in a clear coat ultra thin plastic. It is almost invisible to the eye but stops the tank getting scratched.
Sad day yesterday as my 77 electric start Commando PHL540R was stolen in early hours. Engine/Frame number 335267, if anyone is offered cheap parts let me know.
While investigating a minor leak from an exhaust rocker sideplate I noticed that the tangs on the sideplate were not engaging with the rocker spindle, there also apeared to be enough slack for the spindle to freely rotate cold.
1. Just looking to re install the clutch now on my 850 rebuild. During the 'dry run' I see at the back of the clutch sprocket shims need to be in place. On the strip down I tied mine together.
Hi all,
Just wanted to say thanks to all those that replied to my 'wanted steel interstate tank' ad.
It proves that the NoC wanted service really works - I was offered 3 tanks from members and now have one to put on my bike.
Absolutely everything!
Hello All,
I have turned up a stainless footrest bar and some spacers --thanks Trevor for the measurements. Am I right in assuming that the nuts that hold the footrests on also secure the exhaust pipes to the frame.
Has anyone ever come across alloy guards with the name "frystyle" stamped on. (Not freestyle)
When I was 12, in 1963, a school mate sold me an old Norton for 10/- thats 50pence today.I always had it in my memory that it was an ES2 by the shape of the timing chain cover and push rod tubes et al.
