I have an oil leak from the bottom of mine! I believe it's the same as an Atlas
Any thoughts/advice on refurbishing...can it be done?
TIA

revcounter
The rev-counter used on all the 750 Atlas engines, and the 650 and all the Hybrid bikes, is the Smiths BG/1508/05. The clock is a 2.1. The 05 part is the depth that the rev-counter fits into the timing cover. The only time i have had an oil leak from a rev-counter drive is when i have fitted a pattern one, that had an oil leak from the underside of the rev-counter, in the timing cover, and also via the cable end, that went into the rev-counter. I then put a genuine Smiths one in and all the oil leaks stopped. I put the pattern ones in a box in a draw and never used them again.

Hello Chris - Make a suitable gasket to fit in the indent in the timing cover and large enough to cover the gearbox fixing holes. I usually fit cap-headed allen screws with a thin washer on the inside of the timing cover pointing outwards. Ensure that they don't foul against the canshaft chain. Apply a small amount of Wellseal to the gasket fit the gearbox and use two sturdy 3/16 inch washers and then fit the nuts quite tightly. You may need to buy the screws washers and nuts. I believe they are 3/16 inch BSCycle thread. I think I use 3/4 inch long screws. Run around any excess gasket paper with a Stanley knife and it should no longer weep. Good luck, Howard
