1972 750 Ignition Cover
Hi All,
This is the first time I have worked on a commando engine and just needed to replace the gasket to stop a leak from the timing cover.
Hi All,
This is the first time I have worked on a commando engine and just needed to replace the gasket to stop a leak from the timing cover.
I understand that this was quite common, but, I can't seem to find a post by anyone who has done it. Would there be a need to change ignition, valve timing, or carburettor settings?
I am looking for dynamo drive parts:
drive pinion - it's 23 tooth, 1 7/16" diameter, 9/16" wide
the three mounting nuts, a sort of extended cheese-head.
Does anyone know what the thread is on the three mounting studs?
Being new to the Norton marque I have to ask perhaps a somewhat naive question concerning the Lucas auto magneto.
I'm back for more on plunger Model 7 which came as a basket case
I have original oil tank which has suction and return with connections to crankcase is fine.
Can anyone recommend a supplier for the copper washers , especially the sump plug in the uk
The good book states: "the races are a push fit in the frame and my readily be knocked out". Yeah right! Mine appear to be a very interference fit. I've removed the grease nipples and tried to drift them out with a small bolt through the hole.
I am trying to locate a 1955 Norton Dominator, registration “OOW 536” that once belonged to my Dad around 40 years ago.
Hi all,
My resto continues at speed - I've just started on the primary drive with an RGM belt drive kit.
I did not remove the original primary, so don't have the advantage of how it all came apart - rather a box of various bits.
I know it's a subjective issue but....
Doing bottoms up restoration on '50 Model 7 and wondering if authentic black would have been gloss or semi-gloss.
Gloss is pretty flashy but is it correct for the vintage years?
The light switch on my 1957 ES2 has been playing up for ages. I ran into thick fog a couple of weeks ago but it would not give me a headlight. It appears to be a 3 position switch: sidelights, headlights and off in the middle.
I'm about to drop the forks out of my '55 ES2. The good book states that all the cable connections (clutch, brake, throttle, adv/ret lever and exhaust lifter) to the h/bars should be removed prior to removing the bars.
Not sure if this a new issue.
Stripped down the head on my '73 Commando/Combat.

I have rebuilt a 1963 650SS with two new Amal Monobloc 376 carbs with no air slides fitted. However, I can't start it. It will fire occasionally and kick back but that's all. I will recheck the timing.
My computer this morning flashed me up an alert from Companies House; seemingly Norton Motorcycles UK Limited are again overdue in filing their Annual Accounts. These were due not later than 31st December 2018 and are still listed as overdue- so
Hi

My Electra Parts List includes an 'O'ring Footchange ratchet shaft 'O' ring, which isn't shown on Plate G the exploded drawing of the gearbox.Am I right in assuming that it fits between item 34 the return spring distance piece and the outer cover?
Can someone confirm Moto bat MB9U is the correct upgrade for my 74 Mk 2a? Last gell battery I tried was a Harley item and was just wide enough to fit ,so of course it rubbed a hole , and the last lead /acid item (yb14la2) was too tall and awk
Hello everyone!

what do you think? Is it possible to replace?
thanks
After finding my 23-year-old Boyer Bransden stator plate was past it's best, I replaced it with a brand new one. I did my best to ensure it was in the same place as the original by referring to photos I took but she now won't start.
Happy New Year everyone!
a new year and an old question!
I’m sure I’ve read it somewhere here about tyre choice, but for some reason, since the new website layout? I am not able to find previous post again...
-spoiler alert- this post is me whining like a little girl.
I was assembling the top end on my 71 750 Roadster and was about to install valve seals when I realized the guides are not the correct type.
I really like this as it saves looking at each section. However, I wish it was (a) longer (ie had more items) and (b) indicated which forum sub-section the posts were in. Any chance?
On Billy Connelly Made in Scotland last night. In a very short clip of a group of bicycles riding through Scotland's finest, there was a Yellow Commando shadowing, or trying to overtake the group. It's in shot for about 0.7 of a second!
I am trying to identify the stud that attaches the oil feed to the bottom of the engine on a 1964 Navigator, I can see the nut (part 20943) but not the stud that I also need. Can anyone help?
Steve
Hi Peter,
Further to our earlier communique I still cannot open any Roadholder mags on my iMac. Strangely If I open the Articles index and click on any subject ,the appropriate Roadholder opens up !
Please help.
