Mycurrent Model 7 is the first Dominator that has had a dynamo, rather than an alternator.
Question:
Is it possible, in normal practice, to remove the dynamo WITHOUT removing the timing case?
I can see the 3 screws that go through the triangular timing case extension and the bolt that screws into the lower part of the barrel.
I cannot find any mention of how to remove the dynamo in any workshop manual. Does the cog remain on the dynamo shaft, which can then pull througha large enough hole on the inner side of the triangular timing case extension?
This seems the most likely set up but I would much appreciate any help on this before I attempt removal.
Many Thanks.

Good morning Robert.
Thank you very much for guidance and tip on the dynamo removal. I wasn't completely sure if something had to be unscrewed from the inside of the timing case. Now I can set about it without worry. Much appreciate your help.
Best regards.

Hi Les,
You are correct with your assumptions re. dynamo removal. Remove the end cap and dis-connect the wires, loosen the strap at the front of the dynamo, remove the three screws from the timing case extension and gently pull the dynamo out using a 'to and fro' twisting action to dis-engage the dynamo gear from the drive gear in the timing case,
Robert Gittins.
I know that it has been a long time and I am not holding my breath for a response. I too am having difficulty in extracting the dynamo on my 56 Dommie 99. I have removed the cap and the wires and the 3 securing screws. The dynamo is now loose enough to do the to and fro twisting action but so far I have not been able get any lateral travel at all. Any suggestions? Thanks Ron.n

If you have removed the wires, loosened the strap, and removed the three slotted nuts, then the dynamo should just slide out. It may need a bit of a wriggle to do so. You could tap gently on the end of the dynamo body to help it along.

Thanks Paul. A bit of gentle coaxing with a rubber mallet broke the bond that had formed between the fibre gasket and the crank case.

As it happens, I have removed and fitted my dynamo several times recently, trying to get it to work. It does now. It's a good'un. The commutator needed a clean
