Desaxe engine?

Have Norton ever had crankshaft centerline offset to bore centerline? Called desaxe engines. A principle known and used as early as the thirties, maybe even earlier. Gaining popularity nowadays.

Unobtainable parts

For some years I have been trying to source a pair of footrest rubbers for a slimline dommy . Our suppliers think they have them , but up to now they only have lightweight ones (which don’t fit) , no one seems to make them now (no demand!!).

While at the Ardingly show yesterday I visited Paul Goff's stand to buy a new bulb for my chrono speedo. I have not so far taken any notice of the new trend in LED lighting apart from valuing my LED head torch which goes everywhere with me.

Prop stand

The prop/side stand I have now over extends when pulled down consequently I can’t reach it when on the bike. I would prefer it to stop just past 90 degrees. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Gearbox oil

Hi, I need to put oil in my AMC gearbox, my Haynes manual says Hypoy but no grade - I presume its 80 or 90. But Mr Google tells me it is SAE 40 or 50. Our technical section only describes oil for the lightweights.

Prices

... I think have been on the slide for a while. A very honest looking Model 50 has just failed to reach £2,000 on ebay. The recent auction at Pugh's was also great for buyers if not sellers - a DBD34 scrambles Goldie for under £6,000 anyone?

Cautionary tale

Like an idiot forgot to refill gearbox on my Mk 1 961 Sport after an oil change when I got distracted during process returning to job sometime later , taking bike out for an 18 mile ride.
