ES2 or something else?

My first post!

Just bought my first Norton!

It was sold to me as ES2 1952

There something i dont understand frame number, its GS 44486, cant find any information of that S

Can anyone help to identify this bike?

Gearbox Shells

I've just taken my MKIIA gearbox apart and the first thin to address is the cracked shell. I could of coarse buy a new one  or......... could I use a pre commando Norton AMC shell?

ES2 barrel query

Two photos attached.......nor sure what this extra hole is for in the base of the barrel...the exit hole in the barrel was rough/raised around the edge...had to ease back with wet and dry.

19s or ES2?

I have a 1955 Norton single.  It seems to be a Norton ES2 frame with a 19S engine and I assume matching gearbox.  Engine number: 61300 K9  82 /113  and Frame Number:  K4S 50225 

Droopy kickstart

My 1972 commando works on the kickstart, but when I was out on it on Saturday I noticed that the kickstart had dropped down below the exhaust, the bike was still running fine and I can still kick it over once I have moved by hand the leaver back t

Frame Part Number

I have what I gather is an Italian made frame that doesn't have a VIN number to date it. But the number stamped on the front L/H tank bracket is stamped 064140 so from what I've read it's an 850 from 1974.

Black oil

My '61 ES2, resleeved and bored to 40 thou only 250 km ago, has turned its new oil (GTX 30/50) black. It is not a heavy carbon black, rather like it has been stained.

Swinging arm bearings

Not sure if I dreamt this or not.  Are our spares team looking for a suitable replacement for the swinging arm bush, aka "silentbloc" bush?  I think there was some discussion as to whether or not it was the same as the heavyweight?

Android App issues

Is anyone else having problems with the Android NOC App?  It won't open properly, since earlier today (Friday 4/8/23)

I can access the site as usual through my Web browser.  I just removed and reinstalled but no better.

Timing cover leak

Helping a friend get his 16H back on the road.  We are nearly there but...there's a persistent oil leak from the bottom of the timing cover joint.  I've not seen the surfaces myself (mag drive sprockets must come off of course) but any recommendat

Petrol?

Modern (rubbish) petrol, over a moth old. Can this be ascribed to running weaker than new stuff?

No guesses, maybes, or buts please. Any facts?
