Footrests and spacers

Forums

Hello All,

I have turned up a stainless footrest bar and some spacers --thanks Trevor for the measurements. Am I right in assuming that the nuts that hold the footrests on also secure the exhaust pipes to the frame.

It is also the case that if a sidestand is fitted it ids held on byt the nut and secures the LH footrest and the stud that holds the centre stand on?

Any adivice greaefully recieved.

Hi John,

Yes you are right that the nuts holding on the footrests also hold on the exhaust pipe.

The side stand is attached to the stud which holds the front down tube unto the bottom frame rails.

Thanks Patrick,

Has anyone got a picture of a side stand--particularly its lug, I have just had the frame powder coated and don't really want to weld one on.

Thanks Uli,

Typically--The pictures are just not quite the view I need. I plan to fabricate one but need to have a really good look at the lug and how it fits onto the frame. If there is anyone with one they would be prepared to photgrtaph I would be very grateful.

Cheers

John,

The Jubilee/Navigator was not fitted with a sidestand as standard. It was an optional extra and I have never seen an original one at the autojumbles etc over the past 30 years. It was only fitted to the Electra as standard so they are very rare.

The NOC shop do a reproduction side stand but it is seriously expensive-the one in Uli's picture was almost certainly one of these. Best bet is to get a cheap Japanese/Chinese one from an autojumble and make your own bolt-on bracket to suit.

Hello Patrick,

that is my plan it is the specifics of the bracket I am trying to work out. I wish I had thought of it before the frame was powder coated. From what I can make out from pictures they attach using the bottom front student but I am curious as to how to stop it turning

Hello John,

There are two useful studs down there; one is the bottom engine stud and the other is the front down tube/bottom rails. I attached the bracket to the engine stud and angled it backwards so it locks against the spacer in the down tube. It works fine for me but if you were in any doubt you could secure the bracket to both the studs.

My camera has departed to the happy hunting ground so I can't take any pictures of mine but you have overcome bigger challenges so far with your Navvi.

Thanks for that Patrick,

I hfear I have another challenge on th cards. My cylinder block is worn out (I fear my overenthusiastic use of hone trying to clear out marks in the bore has not helped) and I bought a pair of liners from the club. My engineer tells me that none were orginally listed for the ngagiatr and he doubts whether they can be fitted due to the thin walls resulting from the flats machined to let the liners clear the craksase central web.

Well, it was done with my cylinder on one side, my motor mechanic had no fear to do it.

Here on the right side
