AMC gear box mainsheet length

Forums

Does anybody know the length of the single AMC ES2 / M50 gearbox mainshaft length. A distance over the end splines will do. I know there shorter than the Dommi twins but they all look the same without one agains the other.Cheers Tony

I have a letter dated 21/2/94 from John Hudson and he states the following: AMC standard mainshaft part number 040001. Overall length 9.325", length from end of splines to extreme clutch end 4.659". Racing Manx,7R,G50, 1959 to 1961 part number 040508 overall length 8.921". Length from end of spline to clutch end 4.255. G50 and 7R 1962 part number 040616 overall length 8.608". Length from end of spline to clutch end 3.942".

Hi Tony, interesting query. I note that the Norvil website quotes the same part number for both the singles and Dominator gearboxes. Which would indicate I guess that they are the same length and thus are interchangeable.
