16H/Big4 engines

Forums

A friend of mine has just bought a bike he was told is a 1934 Big4.

The crankcase is stamped 82 x 113.

However, measuring the bore and stroke he found that it is 79 x 100mm.

Base Gasket

Forums

Afternoon.  Would it be safe to assume that a cylinder base gasket for a 1948-on M18 would fit a 1947 bike?  I'm hoping that the only change was the addition of oil holes from '48.  Thank you.

My usually reliable Commando has, possibly for the first time in 30 odd years of ownership, refused to start after a winter layup.

tightening magdyno bolts

Forums

Hi all - found the magdyno on my mid-fifties ES2 had worked loose. Is there any way of tightening the bolts without removing the whole timing cover and re-timing the ignition? I really don't want to unless I have to!

Ignition Timing

I want to ride to work tomorrow and I can't find my manual. I suppose I could clean my hell hole of a shop but it's easier to ask here for help.

Forums

Small End Bush

Forums

Afternoon all.  The small end bush on my '47 M18 disintegrated last July.  I've taken the engine out, and removed the barrel.  Now need someone to ream in a new bush, ideally without me having to remove the con rod from the engine and send it away

Cam Followers

Simple question...  Are cam followers for a Commando the same as for a 650 Dominator engine?  I have a cracked pad in the "dommie" and a set of 4 on the shelf marked up as Commando.

Cheers

Jon
