Oil
Any thoughts on benefits of upgrading to fully synthetic? Servicing looms this year.

Can anyone suggest the best modern oils to use in my 1960 Dominator 99.
I am looking for engine and gear box oils.
Cheers

I have an oil leak from points cover so assuming the seal behind here is shot.
Are there any tricks for getting 150ml of oil into the forks? I’ve got the top nuts off and the stanchions are held in the pinch bolts. I’ve put some oil in and working the legs up and down but it’s taking an age. There must be a “handy tip”?
Hi All,
I'm looking to finish off a Manx replica build I have been putting together for more years than I care to remember. As we are all sat at home twiddling our thumbs a bit I have been looking through things.
Hi all,
I am in the process of rebuilding my 1938 16h dolls head gearbox and have noticed the following anomaly with the linkage or actuating rod that appears to make little sense.
Interesting Seeley Norton on the back cover of Roadholder. I'll say, as its an XS650 Yamaha engine.
I've seen that photo before somewhere but can't remember where.
regards
Peter
Was intrigued by picture on the back page of the 'Seeley Norton'
Nice bike, but when was a Yamaha XS650 engine a Norton one? Specsavers anyone?
Regards,
George
Hi All - has anyone used the Wassel (Vape) Electronic Ignition system on a lightweight yet? Getting to the stage where having to think about what to use - Pazon, Boyer, Wassel etc.
Good afternoon everyone. I have just bought a Navigator, or at least I thought I did. I've been going through the bike, seems OK, never going to win any prizes for finish but seems to be mechanically sound if somewhat oily.
750 with RH6 head. Not going to be flying around the place. Will one 32mm carb be sufficient or is a two carb set up to be preferred? Ta.
Trying to find out where this hub originated from its fitted to a Valante 18x2.15 S40 alloy rim with stainless spokes
Its in my surplus to requirements box but have no idea what it’s off.
cheers

My wife and I are pretty sure we both had the Virus in the first week of the year.
Now in my ES2 ('61) rebuild, another query - and I thought it was an easy job when I first saw the bike.
My 74 850 has a rubber grommet, or stop, on the lower yoke on the left side.
does it have a purpose? It isn’t near or touched by anything so it’s not a stop as such.
Is there a specific amount the valve is held open by the decompression mechanism on any big bore single?
I have a Commando stamped with engine #235377.
It is registered as 1973 but I see that last 1972 Commando was engine #230935 so I'm thinking it has been re-stamped with a number beyond the correct range.
Hi please can you help with the dimensions of the Manx Norton 2LS front brake anchor peg? Especially the thread size/form. It will give me a little job to do in between the many chores around the house that my wife has lined up for me.
I have a '73 750 Commando that came with a Combat head and a standard 1S camshaft.
Can I replace 1S cam with 2S or will I need to machine extra clearance on crankcases for the additional lob heights?
Spent a couple of hours on trying to figure out the numbering system for the magnetic grey faced Smiths speedometers. No success. Is there anyone who can explain?
Does anyone know where I can access templates for the correct paint pattern for the panels on the sides and top of a 1953 Dommi 88? I have seen quite a variance on the few restored bikes that I have been able to access photos of.
Hello, Just wondered if anyone out there could tell me what this clutch is off, had it years and not one visiting friend has been able to tell me,. Thanks, J H.
Could anybody please advise which is the best battery to get for my 1957 model 50/350?
Many thanks
Dave
Going to buy the Clarkes bike lift. My thanks to Roberts Tym & Tuck, and to David & Mikael for their positive responses on this device. It should solve a lot of my mobility issues !

Doris's engine (1960 Dominator 99) has been dismantled for inspection. Both camshaft bushes have been installed with the oil holes out of line.
I have a 1959 Model 50 & a 1959 Dominator, both with wide line frames. I need a lift that allows the easy removal of front and rear wheels and enables working at a seated height. Will this lift from Machine Mart do the job ?
1) Further to recent missives concerning my 650SS, I am replacing the three studs in the cylinder head - or at least, I am trying to.
I have read somewhere that the breather pipe exiting the engine at about 2 o'clock looking at the drive side crankcase should have a ball valve in it.
Whilst "Self Isolating" I'm attempting to fit the original air filter box and rubber (Tubes) gaiters back onto my 1973 750 commando.
