12 volts from 6 volt dynamo
Al Osborne has written the piece in the technical section of this site in which he discusses the merits (and otherwise) of regulating 12 volts instead of 6 volts from a standard dynamo.

Hi All,
The previous owner of my ES2 has changed the copper tube that carries oil from the return side to the rockers.
....more of a model one really. When we bought a Noron 99 earlier this year it had 99 De-luxe in the log book. Strange really as it's a 1958 wideline 99 and I thought that the De-luxe model came out in 1960 and used a slimeline frame.
I have just purchased a bare alloy head from our annual swap meet. Its for a spigot barrel and has a cast-in mark reference of 22707 M appears (in fading light) to have 1 inch inlet port and 1.25" exhaust.
Hi folks, being at wits end to solve the problem with my Dommie front forks, casting around for wisdom. Must be missing something.
Hi all, when trying to fit my kick start spring on my 56 88 and find that the spring is either to slack if i use the hole in the 11 oclock position or if i use the next hole at 90 degrees clockwise,it comes out of the hole when i push the kick star
Having been told that copper grease effects the torque settings I have done some reasearch and it appears that the jury is out on whether to use it on cylinder head bolts.
Having lapped in the valves and reassembled the engine I can hear a tiny bit of hissing from the valves when under compression.
At last I am about to start reassembly having had the barrel rebored and the big end bearing replaced as well as the clutch rebuilt ...... etc. etc.
Can anyone let me knowthe torque figuresforthecylinder head (iron)bolts?
Thanks
Hi - just a few lines to introduce myself as a new member. Typical old codger - needed a project to keep me busy so I got hold of a Jubilee to rebuild.
I am conscious of an engine noise in my '62 Dominator 99 recently. It is best described as a rumble low in the engine. It is not particularly loud and only noticeable when riding and not at idle.
I've just finished rebuilding my Atlas, everything refurbed etc. and all timing etc set to manuals spec. Basically the bike is a b...r to start- hot or cold- although it fires up more or less no prob' if bumped or pushed off then runs ok.
Hello good and knollagaeable owners. I have been wonderingfor some time if it is possible to balance twin Amals on my 850 M2a using vacuum gauages instead of disconecting spark plugs method.
I have a 1953 International that I am restoring. The motor case seems to have been painted silver at one time.
Were such motor cases painted silver from the factory works?
Thanks in advance
As I have a whole drum of this in aircraft quality 20 SWG(0.036"/0.91mm) I have a lot spare. The drum is 97.5 metresbut I don't suppose my bikes will need more than about 90 m

Hi does anyone know where i can get a dog leg front brake lever to fit the standard original Lockheed master cylinder on my 850 commando.the standard lever is like a brick and you need very long fingers to reach it.
I have an 8" TLS brake on the front a 1960 ES2 I bought a year or so ago.
How about putting an "Updated" tag with date on each of the spares sections?

Another question, what was the original material for the red tail light lens in the MT110 tail light for the 1946 time frame?
Was it glass or plastic and was it plain or jeweled or faceted?
