I've been doing some searching for footrest hanger assemblies for rigid frames (not WD type) and also gasket sets for 1938 ES2 and 35 Model 18 engines to no avail.
Hi, I have just joined the NOC after some years of oohing and aahing. I do not ride anymore due to disability but have been rummaging in the attic and finding old photo's of when I was a babe sitting on my fathers Norton.
It seems to me that apart from Tony Ripley and Al Osborn, none of the techical advice team offer any advice to members problems raised on the forum. This begs the question what are these people there for?
Would it be possible to number these pages in reverse to how they are now? So for instance this page would be the highest number and the original page would be Number one.
Can anybody help me find som high copression pistons for a 1959 500 dominator 10:1 +60thou. Any help greatly appreciated.
Maintaining a Commando is still a learning curve for me. I have read a lot about the exhasut pipe nuts coming loose, and suddenly after 3-4000 miles I have that problem.
As You may have seen in my 750 strip thread, my headstock is twisted out of the vertical axis with the centre line of the headstock being about 7.5mm to the left of the frame centreline at front iso bolt level.
A mate had this engine in his front room as an ornament. I thought it might make a good project. A stretched, special featherbed frame perhaps? It needs a name to start with - how about "Merton" or "Norlin"?
Cheers, Lionel
Just a thought - there seem to be more Commando spares than for any other Nortons, although I haven't counted!
Can anyone please recommend a reliableelectronic ignition that retains the points.
I have looked at Pazon etc but this would require mods to the distributor to have a points free system.
Thanks.
They are £99 inc VAT & post in the current VMCC catalogue AND they're Hepolites! Just a bit cheaper than others. I wish Dommie pistons werethat price!

Having searched for a while for information about the '61 650SS steering stop plate, I contacted Andover Norton. Normally, a supplier who doesn't stock an item simply says "Sorry, don't have one, mate" and that's it. Nick Hopkins the M.D.
Hi. Just a new member but had this great bike since 1973. restored 25 yrs ago not used for 12 yrs. Anyone in the london area know of a good mechanic to get it running and ready to use again. Was working when I stopped using it. Thanks
If you were riding through Hampshire last Saturday and returned home to find your Commando was minus one side panel, you are in luck.
Hi all,
Has anyone fitted a practical screen on a MK3 commando, not a huge one just enough to keep the wind off at higher speeds. If so where fromwhere, make etc. Any info will be very much appreciated, cheers, Tony.

I have recently advertised my Norton Commando for sale and forgot to mention it had matching numbers.I was deluged with countless emails not about how the bike performed or looked,or what work had been done
Hi Im new to this site but have been a member of NOC for a few years (since starting a Norton project)is there a section where people post pictures of there bikes? or is this seen to be 'Showing off' and not the British way .
Does the starter kit contain any sort of backfire overload device as in the Mk3 or does it not require it ?

Hey guys,
I just got a cylinder sleeve for my 48 ES2 andI got a question: The barrel has a funny shaped notch near the bottom but the sleeve does not. What's the notch for andis there an issue with the sleeve not having one?
I have seen bare second-hand alloy alloy heads advertised very cheaply. Two questions :-
1. Would the valve gear etc swap straight over?
2. Apart from saving a few pounds in weight, would it be worth it?
Hi, My memory is hazy on what fits what, as I have not had a Norton for 40 years, and am trying to build an Atlas out of what I can find, hopefully before the Grim Reaper gets me first. The Frame is 1967, crankcases 1967, barrels possibly.
I am thinking of fitting a car type oil filter kit to my 1961Model 99 as advertised in many places.Any thoughts about suitability, positioning etc happily recieved. Regards, Chris.
I really feel I need to thank the NOC & Mike Pemberton for the excellent "Pushrod Singles Engine Rebuild" DVD.
