Weedy rear brake
The rear drum brake on my 1973 850 is hopeless, I'd welcome any advice from folk about making it less of an ornament.

Having fallen in love with my 1936 Model 50 last winter & bought her, hubby & I realised we'd have to learn to ride one of those 2-wheeled thingys before we were allowed to take the Norton further than the end of the drive!
Smoked bacon wth a hint of garlic and a fried egg is excellent.
Hello, I am a new owner of a Navigator and am looking for a replacement kickstart, any one know of a source for replacements, it seems these are as rare as hens teeth.
When I wheel my '55 ES2 around and pull the front brake the front dips as one would expect. When I sit on it the rear suspension drops slightly. All OK. When I'm riding, it feels like a solid frame.
hi there,
dive just viewed a 750 Commando with a fibreglass tank. All is very clean and crack free. Does anybody have any advice with regard to usage? Such as what type of fuel to use, any additives required etc.
I don't know why but I checked my brake lights this morning - I know I should do it before every ride but who does.
Having followed the Norton re-boot with Mr Garner I decided 6 years ago to have one of the new Norton's well after 18 month's got my deposit back and bought a Tiger 800 [ fab bike]. Fast forward December 2015 at the bike show N.E.C.
Anyone know if the big 4 barrel was black or silver on a 1951 engine?
I have brought my es2 out of the garage for the first time this year and she has wet sumped . I have been off the road for 30 years and not sure what to do before I start her up .
Hello from Finland.
There is racing event on 24.9.2016 in Kaanaa Center Finland.
Last year there was over 80 racing drivers and all sorts of bikes.
Wellcome to you all and see some real racing.
Found this photo. Sharing it just out of interest in case anyone fancies a bit extra power.
Hi folks. Can anyone help with a few photographs of their wiring loom in situ please?
Can someone please tell me the Allen key size I need to remove the
outer chaincase cover on a 1964 Electra, appears to be slightly too small for 3/16. And where I can get a gasket for it.
Cheers, Stew.
Hi Chaps. I note the club's Regina Chain appears not to be from the current range from Regina.
Dear all, I have trawled the messages for info on single carb jetting on a 930 concentric. Could folks in the know please confirm these settings may be OK?
A little advice please.
I discovered upon stripping down/rebuilding my 1961 standard navigator that the footrest spacers had been replaced with a couple of sections of cut down box spanners. Full points for initiative I supppose.
Been to a few race meetings recently where we've seen Nortons with a fibreglass "undertray" attached to stop oil being deposited on track if there's a problem. Not an original vintage item, obviously, but relatively sleek & not in-your-face!
Hi
i have been looking at fitting a hydraulic clutch to my commando for many years. Even thought of cutting outside case of gearbox and fitting cylinder from modern triumph.
Just been on a 30 mile run to Falmouth plus the Management on the pillion. Very hot weather and traffic jams galore.
Whats the best plugs, ht leads and plug caps for a 1959 Jubilee. 6v electrics at the moment, will convert to 12v later.
Thanks
John
Can anyone please confirm if there is supposed to be a thin washer behind the oil pump worm? I found one on disassembly but it looks a bit odd & I cannot find one in any diagrams/parts lists.
One of the three studs that attach the brake drum to the rest of the hub has broken free of its weld in the drum. This means that the sleeve nut can not be undone and the QD function for wheel removal has ceased to be an option.
While turning through a nearly 360 degree and steep hairpin I dropped it and broke my clutch lever atthe notch. I also broke the indicator lens. A newclutch lever from Norton includes the master cylinder and is about £160.00!
Hi all,
By restoring my Model 18, 1947, I found a worn bronze bushed left hand fork leg, when I tried to replace the bushes bought by British Only Austria.
Has any one a solution to the staining that occurs round the filler cap on the (newly refurbed) petrol tank caused, presumably, by the ethanol in the petrol? George
Out of coincidence to the recent Wet Sumping message, I have had my own surprising episode of a very wet sump start today. I had left my newly restored M7 for about 2 weeks (I have been very busy and not had the chance to ride it).
hi,
Im going to have a look at a 1970 750 Commando very soon and I'd very much appreciate any pointers on what to look out for.
