Calling all "Old Guys"
I read somewhere recently of a chap who'd been biking for 60 years or so and was refused insurance when he reached 80. Has anyone else experience of this?
That only gives me 1 yr 10 months of biking left!

I usually paint everything in 2K paint but wonder if a heat dispersant paint might work better on some pseudo conical hubs.
Hi,
Can anyone tell me what spray tube and needle jet should be fitted to the Amal Concentric used on an 850 Commando RH4 head?
Thanks and BR,

Hi all. Any recommendations on the best glue to stop gearchange rubbers falling off with use? Obviously SuperGlue is ideal for rubber to metal but I wondered if it is too good i.e. you can't ever remove the rubber if it becomes worn.
Does anyone have a set of instructions for fitting / setting up an isolastic head steady? I've searched the NOC forum and other sites but can't find anything.
There's a neat little article in RH this month by Ian Lines about a cost effective tacho.
Has anyone else had any experience of it?

Does anyone have a picture of the way the loom is routed on an S type? (Early 70)
I have one of these new "Lucas" looms but it doesn't lend itself to sensible routing. I am not convinced it is correct.

It's been a week since I brought my 38 ES2 home.
The previouys owner told me to push the tool box latch button and the box will open. Well it's locked. Is there a universal key that may fit? Can it be picked..lol

Hello. I decided to put your Boyer ignition on my atlas. In order not to modify ATD, I ordered a Magneto drive sprocket at Norvil. But when I got the sprocket, there are only 16 teeth on it and not 18 as it is on ATD.
Iâm still having selection problems, I can move the selector cam with a screw driver through the gears with the outer cover off, but donât seem to be able to do so with the cover on, itâs as if the stop plate isnât allowing enough movement.
So I've just picked up a MK3 850 (1976) after it had been in a dry garage for 20 years, have got it running fine and MOTed but the clutch slips as you feed it in (between gear changes going up) have just taken it apart and the 5 friction plates ar
Had an inaugural run round the block having resurrected the 1936 Model 18 bought as a non runner last year so a happy day. I'd planned for a longer run but the steering felt, well, interesting but highly unpredictable.
I used rattle can smooth Hammerite on the headlamp brackets of my Jubilee and achieved a really smooth gloss finish but it chipped easily.
1960 dominator clutch pushrod will not lift pressure plate evenly . I tried to adjust spring IE two screwed with a 1/8 inch of thread protruding , but plate will not lift true off clutch plates.
Not a suggestion but a query. Sometimes when I open a link to an image (using ctrl + click, Firefox) it opens a new tab with the image; sometimes it opens a new tab which is empty but downloads the image. Any ideas why?
I was replacing the gear change lever o ring, all seemed to go well. After putting the outer cover back on I selected 1st gear but could not get 2nd or back to neutral.
There are loads of Norton single & twin parts at H J Pugh's auction on the 5th May. Sadly I can't make it but a heads up for those who can.
Hello all, Does anyone know whetherSteve Coleman,or Paul Nichols are still active in the club,I would like to make contact with them re a dominator dynamo issue.

I read somewhere (on this Forum) that cork inserts (for a mid fifties model) are a No-No.
Regrettably I had already bought a load from RGM for the clutch chainwheel and fitted them.
Hi. Can anyone i.d. this crankshaft flywheel. (see attached images). I'm confused by the part no. (064263) which i can't find in any of the usual resources.
I notice on my pre-featherbed ES2 that one plate in the clutch has one side friction and one side plain. It also has inner tangs This means it is drives the clutch spider but is stationary when the bike is stopped in neutral.
I'm looking for advice on modern tyres with better grip, handling characteristics but period tread and look.
Hello,
I have a 99 and it does not start. Or more it did start, and then one day did not start. I suspected the magneto may have failed, so I sent this away for reconditioning.
Can anyone advise the best route to converting or changing Roadholder Forks to a Twin Disc setup.Understand one can change to Honda Forks but which type and or GSXR Forks but again which type or model should one go for.
Front Leading Shoe Brake is not performing too well.
Ive installed new shoes, return springs, expander cams and brake cable from RGM. Cleaned inside of drum with 600 grit.
I notice that the NOC hosts a page describing a method of replacing the Commando's inlet valve seals without disturbing the head: this method was described by user Ludwig over at AccessNorton, and the NOC's page credits him appropriately.
Hi everyone. Have you looked at the NEW MOT test? No oil leaks, no smoke. That means no Classic Vehicles in my vocabulary. How do you get an old Ford Diesel through? or a leaking Norton Chaincase?
