Rear chain
Does anyone know if it is safe to fit a 5/8*3/8 chain for use with the gearbox on a 1956 E.S.2 that has only been used with a 5/8*1/4 chain before ( with appropriate sprockets of course)?

My Mk3 Commando has a sleeved down master cylinder, braided Goodrich pipes, AP racing caliper and an RGM 11 inch floating disc but the brakes are only adequate even by comparison to a friends bike with none of the above.
I'm planning an Alps trip on my Commando and wondered whether anybody can advise as to the general availability of E5/non-ethanol fuel at petrol filling stations on the continent ?
Hi All
I have a 1971 Norton Commando Fastback.
I am doing a full rebuild and I'm in the process of putting the bike back together.
Dear All,
I have almost finished the re-wire part of the restoration of my 99-engined 650SS-framed mongrel and have a question about the rear brake light switch.
Hi. I am fitting a sidecar to a featherbed frame and I wonder if anyone can tell me how to identify the required yokes, top and bottom.
Hi All Again!
Just got some new +040 pistons from the club shop, my old ones had valve cutaways but the new ones don't? I've got a 4S cam fitted, will there be clearance issues?
Cheers
Paul
New to a Commando and to the forum so any advice welcome.
1st outing on the 69 Commando over the bank holiday. 2 miles down the road started popping and backfiring. Got worse and ended up cutting out every half mile. Limped back home. Pushed last 500 yards
Last winter I coated some chrome and paintwork with ACF 50 , I used the aerosol foam and the liquid small bottles. It did a fantastic job ,and even dissolved some rust back to bare metal and got corroded electrical connections clean .
Hi, My 1976 MK3 Interstate speedo gearbox has terminally failed and I have therefore purchased a replacement which will require greasing before I fit it. I do not have a grease gun and have no knowledge of Zerk fitments.
Does any member know of a reputable company who can ship a Norton to the Czech rally in June from the UK ?
Best regards

Can anyone confirm or otherwise whether a Mk2A head is exactly the same as a Mk3 head, so a straight swap? I have removed the head from my Mk3 Commando and it has several welds (been through the wars) as well as one or two broken fins.
You may have seen in the news that a soon-to-be ex-MP has got himself into a little spot of bother. His offence, apparently, was trying to find Dominators on the internet.
My clutch lever is a bit difficult to pull in. Ive checked the plates and pressure plate setting, they are ok. It has a new cable and correctly routed.
Is there any advantage to soaking the plates in oil over night.
Thanks
After four years I have now converted several boxes of rusting parts into a rideable Dommie 99. Thanks to everyone who has provided me with help, ideas, information and support over the years.
Hi. I have finally finished rebuilding my 1960 Dommie 99 - it only took 4 years! So now I have the joy of running in the engine and gearbox after substantial rebuilds with various new parts installed. However, as usual, not all is ‘harmonious’.
Hi , so following on from earlier topic i got round to fitting the new double sided gearbox aduster .
Hi All,
Would a 850 Mk1 roadster seat fit my 850 Mk2?
Cheers

Is Quality Chrome still in business? I received no response from a quote request. Are they the go to place for a fuel tank rechrome ? How about paint after the chrome?
The short Roadholder forks on my '55 Model 88 are very stiff. They feel as though the damping is way too hard on compression. I am using 20W fork oil, and from memory I measured 190ml.
I am just rebuilding the forks on my ‘71 roadster, what do you recommend in the way of fork oil please guys.
Hi everyone,
I've recently bought a norton model 18 from 1929. Since I have no experience with a motorcycle this old, I have some questions that I hope you can help me with :-)
1. Gearbox oil:
Kingpin Components is out of their oil tap with switch. Would anyone know where one of these can be bought?
Thank you
Can anyone advise on paint details for 1933 BSA Blue Star ?
Yes I know this is a Norton site . If anyone can steer me to a Relevant BSA group I would be grateful. Did Roy Bacon do any books on BSA singles as he did for Norton ?
Never knew that buying a Norton would open up a wealth of info!
1972 Commando 750, think it's a Roadster, pretty darned tidy as appears to have been so little used!
I am struggling with this. The bike in question (not a Norton) does not have an access plug above the piston, as does my 16H.
Can anyone please shed any light on a slight problem I have with a total rebuild of a bike (1970 Mk.2 Fastback) purchased in boxes. The bike is almost complete now, having reassembled the whole bike mostly from memory.
