Coils and ballast resistors
This is only peripherally Norton related but I think is a general query. I'm building a Tri-Greeves with a minimal (no lights) 12 volt electrical system with small battery, simple full wave rectifier and Zener diode.

On my ES2, there is a drilling in the timing side crankcase (not the timing case) at about 7 o'clock running upwards and forwards. It lies behind the frame tube. It has a stud screwed into it - no oil leaks out.
If you have a photo of your Norton that you think everyone would like to look at for a month during 2024 please send it to me without delay.
I'm looking at the picture of Martin Woltman's excellent Navigator Cafe Racer and it look like he's fitted a 7" headlamp, but retained the original Roadholder brakets. I'd like to do something similar, is that an easy thing to fit I wonder? The
Can someone please advise the order of assembly of the rockers, with washers and spacers?
The manuals (such as they are) don't make it clear.
The "tuned for racing" donor engine that I'm using parts of for my 650SS restoration has not been treated with the TLC that it deserves. I had hoped to use the oil pump but it would appear to have been modified.
Would like to purchase an original style rear fender for an Atlas. Are there any aftermarket items available that are reasonable quality?
My newly finished 1960 Dommie 99 has the standard front fork set up with 20 weight fork oil and original springs. I’m finding the front end very harsh when I ride as I only weigh just over 8 stones (52kg).
I've just been fitting an Alton starter to my 850 Mk1 - all went well but on re-assembly I noticed that I can move the clutch drum in and out about 1-2mm.
I can take up this play by tightening down the clutch push rod screw.

Hi, I think this must be the most often asked question, which oil to use for my 1962 650SS?
Can I use synthetic or semi synthetic?
If I use synthetic or semi synthetic do I have to clean out the old oil?
I have been offered a 500 - 8000 chronometric tachometer for my 1955 inter, the needle rotates in a clockwise direction and the ratio is 4 - 1.
Hi Guys... I've been told that the TLS front brake plate as fitted to the early Commando will fit the full width front hub of my '63 650SS without needing any modifications to either. Is that correct, please? Are there any other TLS options?
I have a 1973 Commando 850 Interstate where a previous owner fitted a single Mikuni. I have given up trying to get this setup and have purchased a set of used Amal 932 to go back to standard.
Looking for some advice on:
Hi I am a newbie to the Club and have just bought a MK3 Interstate. However, I would like to be able to change my bike into a Roadster, when required. I have been looking at various suppliers, EBAY etc. and it seems a bit of a minefield.
I’ve read all my Norton books, and scoured the interweb for any information on the scooter that appears in silhouette on the NOC app home page on the Models tab, but drawn a blank.
It was nice to see the NOC with a lovely display stand at the Stafford International motorcycle show at the weekend.
Took the head off my Mk 2A this winter to get exhaust threads fixed etc, now appear to have fallen at the last fence. Seems I messed up fitting the coils .
Having spent the winter taking the head off my Mk 2a to repair the exhaust threads I reached the stage of re build and refitting the coils etc. Two sparx black boxes later I,ve realise I had the connections muddled, an easy mistake, any idiot ca
It's only April and now we are riding more often we need a dedicated calendar. This year's NOC calendar is beautiful printed and wide range of models. At A4 format (opens out to A3) there'll be room to hang it somewhere.
My 65 Atlas is misfiring and I would like to ask you guys for help troubleshooting it. This has Boyer Brandsen ignition which was working well before it started misfiring. Any help or tips are welcome.
Hi guys
Anybody have any thoughts on JP pistons in a domi 88. I have weighed some and have found that each piston is 35 grams heavier than original hepolites. How much is that going to affect the balance?
Cheers
