Oil around spark plugs
Hi - I've been gradually reducing the number of leaks around the head of my '74 Mk2 Commando. I've had cracks in the head welded, impregnated etc. and the situation has improved greatly over the years.

I'm hoping that someone can help me out. I have fitted the head steady and love it but the spring has now broken twice. My question is is the spring needed or should I chuck it.
I have just completed my Commando rebuild with Boyer ignition, Alton Electric start and Mikuni single carb. The bike started first touch.
My bike is really vibey over 40 mph so I assume these need adjusting somehow. I'm under the impression there are 2 types of engine mount. How would I go about adjusting the ones in the pic? Thanks, John.

Hi All,
This could turn into something close to asking what oil to use but here goes...
I am refitting the head of my '63 650SS and have purchased a stainless short centre bolt and washer from a well known supplier. The bolt is fine but the washer is too wide to fit into the recess in the cylinder head.
I'm probably just 'man-looking' as my wife would say, but I can't seem to find Navigator front wheel bearings in the Lightweight section of the NOC Shop. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
I replaced some gearbox internals and now after rebuilding I can select gears in one direction but I cannot then select ANY gears .
I'm old and easily confused... None more so that when I'm trying to figure out the correct rim and tyre sizes I should be using on my mid '60s 650SS project. I have the hubs... That's a good start, but they need rims lacing on to them.
I guess many NOCers also like messing about with old cars too, and like it or not an electric future beckons.
Good evening
Did a restauration of my engine of the 1939 es2.

Hi guys
Does anyone have the specifications for the springs in a sturmey archer 6 spring clutch? 1930 ish.
The ones in mine are of varying lengths and strength.
I guess not too strong so as not to affect mainshaft loading.
I have been helping another old contact who has envied my old bikes and bought a bike to re-kindle those old memories . He has little mechanical ability so has given his bike to an "expert".
I am interested in buying either a model 50 or an 88 but feel that I ought to be able to try one out especially to see if my strength allows me to kick start. Can anyone advise me how I can do this please.?
I live in London and my bikes are registered with the DVLA as historic . Looking at the TFL sites it would appear that we do not need to do anything .
The thick gasket between the intake manifolds on my Atlas is paper. Would someone know a good source for these and what material should it be?
The inner bolt that bolts the carb to the head on my Atlas is an Allen bolt, is this correct?
I've recently acquired my first Commando ('74 850 Interstate) and am getting to grips with the joys of working on old bikes for the first time in a long while. I just wanted to extend my thanks to Peter Shand for all his help today, both sorting o

Does anyone know a way of fitting a side stand to a 650SS Norton without having to take the engine and gearbox out please. I have been told in the past that this can be done. Thanks, Ken
Can anyone send me a couple of pictures of how the Jubilee headlight angle is controlled please?
Rebuilding my ‘66 and there was nothing positioning it prior to the rebuild - other than the rigid aged wiring looms!
Thanks
Were Dommie conrods polished at the factory? I have an old pair which are not polished and have fettling marks across the edges. The ones in the 88SS are polished. I wonder if that was by previous owner?
