I have been offered a 500 - 8000 chronometric tachometer for my 1955 inter, the needle rotates in a clockwise direction and the ratio is 4 - 1.
Providing I get a 4 -1 gearbox to drive it from the magneto drive cover is this the only criteria I need to follow?

a 4 - 1 tachometer, if driven from the magneto shaft (already at half engine speed) will need a 2 - 1 gearbox
