The top bolt that secures the gearbox is innacessible to a socket set. The nut should be reduced hexagon to allow a socket to fit . But reduced to what?.
Hello again all,
The rebuild of my 1947 Gardengate 40M is proceeding well and I have now reached the stage where I have to dip into my pocket for a few more bits.
This time I need a Tacho and Tacho drive unit.
Gudgeon Pin - My 650SS came to a sudden halt. The piston had a crack and a small hole. The bores were OK so I ordered a set of standard pistons from RGM in September.
The guard on the 63 SS lolls a bit to the offside and gets too close to the fork shroud ,the chrome is showing a wear mark. Its been off and on a few times to try to get it to behave.
Would someone please confirm the correct fitment regarding the rotor and alternator for the above model. The numbers I have are; 468678/47119A960 for the alternator, 2 wires and 466177/423506 for the rotor, many thanks David

Hello, new member and first post so hopefully right forum.
Hope you all enjoyed reading the 2nd instalment of the rebuilding of my Atlas that the Roadholder editor was kind enough to publish in the Jan & Feb issues. I've gotta say it was a fun project.
Has any one booked for this as traveling up from near Coventry , keeping off motorways if possible so if any one wants to meet up on the way , will also be camping so hope not every one taking camper vans and weather going to be good .
Is it just me, or are more people putting Sale/Wanted ads in the Forums, instead of using the Classified section?
Is there a need to indicate more prominently that ads should not be placed in the Forums?
Looking for some info and advice regarding pushrods for my 'mix and match' 1959 Dominator 99.
My name is Jim Sadler and I recently joined the NOC having acquired a 1969 Commando Fastback.
I am listed as Adrian Sadler with the NOC but I loathe my first name, Adrian, and have always used my second, James.
I was wondering if anyone is aware of a list of fastener sizes for the different systems found on a Norton Commando?
I am trying to get quotes for my renewal and got a good quote from PJ via the club scheme, however I have a modern bike as well and it was high when you include it in the mix.
I want to make the two studs that locate the crankshaft as the new ones I bought aren't a snug fit.
What grade of steel should they be made from?
Visitors to the German Club stand at the Classic Motor Show were treated to these delicious home-made Norton cookies.
Dagmar, wife of Hans Heitmann, baked dozens of them, well done!
Whilst got the head off my mk3 850 doing the head gasket thought I would fit the lash caps purchased last year whilst the intake ones look like the rocker arm adjuster is pushing towards the middle of the cap the exhaust adjusters look a bit off c
I have recently purchased a very very nice 650SS - 151 BJW - which was featured in last month's issue of Classic Bike Guide (actually a re-run of an article previously run in Real Classic November 2017, but that's journalism for you).
Back from my Aussie Holiday now and back to the spanners. I have my new pistons and the rebore is due to be done. Crank is being checked over and getting ready to weigh rods and pistons.
Hi, I have recently seen a laydown box with the shell markings GT202 VAF and serial no GB21 then a gap followed by 354.
Could anyone advise which model of Norton this might have been used with.
Many thanks Keith
Hi can anyone tell me the correct timing chain, apparently they changed in 1947 and mine is a 1947,the timing on the mag is advanced when the cable is slack and retarded when tight?

Bob
Recently purchased a 1974 Mk2 and found the oil tank breather pipe just hanging between the swinging arm and gearbox.
