A break in the rain has given me a chance to get the Navigator and Electra out for a good clean after the Navigator's looooong rebuild and the Electra's busy summer of reliable and enjoyable regular transport. Attached is a picture of my bikes which hopefully will encourage those who are busy with their own rebuilds.
I know the Lightweight Norton's have their critics but in my eyes and in my experience of 50 years ownership of all three models they can be made to be very reliable, enjoyable, well handling, sprightly and attractive practical classics bikes. Particularly when converted to 12v electrics with electronic ignition and sympathetic, regular and knowledgeable maintenance. A big thank you to the NOC spares scheme, our type experts and fellow members who help us keep them on the road! Being able to source the correct replacement fork top yoke from a fellow member with sage advice from those on this forum within hours of posting an ad on the website in the last few days is a great example of what Norton ownership is all about!
Thanks to you all! Nick

Sorry to hear that Ian but…
Sorry to hear that Ian but at least the Electra is starting reliably and settling down the more you use it. As for the gear change I think an over strong index pin is often the source of difficulties changing gear along with a badly adjusted clutch dragging. My Electra's gear change has improved beyond all measure since I cured the leaking index pin retainer with three copper washers which reduced the load on the index pin. To cheer you up I've attached the photo which my phone seemed to have not attached - I hope it helps!

... but no see see as there is no attached picture.
I've been impressed with the handling of my Electra, and also the gearchange which is much better than some have suggested. Hopefully it will continue to start and run although my motorcycling these days is of the fair weather variety so waiting for the clouds to clear! Taking a tumble in the garage yesterday - tripped over a workmate extended leg - hasn't encourged me to get back on the bike as I nurse my bruises - fortunately nothing more serious.
