3.00x19 Avon Speedmaster on the front, 3.50x19 Avon SM MkII on the back. An even better combination in my opinion.

Why don?t people browse previous threads, before asking the same hoary questions? Oh, and I agree with Gordon!

Don't know if your reply encourages members to use the forum particularly new ones. and I will take Gordon's advice.

O.K. Everyone has to start somewhere. However, thereare massive amounts of information available on this, and other sites. If an answer cannot be found, then ask a question. Gordon, and I have given our opinions, on this subject, several times in the past. Not all will agree, but, the information is still available. You only need to type the subject you are interested in the "Search" box. If no information is available, then ask.

More modern tyres may give slightly better grip, than the Avons, (probably giving less mileage). However, for road use the Avons are more than adequate for the performance of a standard Dominator.

Just do not attempt to emulate George Brown , even short runs at 190 mph are not safe on a an SM tyre!.

Sorry John, I just couldn't resist it.

Happy New Year.

Hi Neil, I was not sniffing ethanol! As others have found out, you don?t have to repeat yourself on this site. It does it for you!

Happy New Year, to you, and all other members (well, most of them).

hello that all dependson how you ride the bike but if your like me and use the throttlea bit more and take fast bends at high speed then you need and better-shaped tyes on back and not a square looking thing like an Avonmk2 , I found the k70 to do a better job at high speeds and mine are 4.00x18 with a 350x 19 ribs up frontI do not hang about when riding yours

I have to admit I don't grind the footrests down now and tend to corner on a light throttle, Because the SM has a very long life there is a tendency for it to wear square and roadholding seems much better if tyre not over pressured, The deep sidewalls need to flex to keep the tread working.I run my rear at 24lbs.

Just got to mention that I don't hang about and do scrape footrests on corners when safe to do so. In my experience, K70s on the back will break away where an SM MkII will still grip. Can be scary. Also, on one of my Highland jaunts along with my sons on modern bikes, a K70 on the back of the Norton was treadless in 1300 miles. Not what I was expecting. It was replaced with an Avon. I use 25 psi at each end.

Hello the K70 on the back of My Norton Manxman 650 has had no bother and it as good as new its now covered some 6650 thousand miles and I replaced the chain once sincefitting the tyre and found this tyreto be very good handling even at 110 mph and in very heavy rain 80 mph on motorways the Avon GPs were originally fitted on these machines the better tyers maybe Avonroadriders yours anna j
