Thank you
Very impressed by the enthusiasm shown by all those that posted comments in reply to my questions about getting my 650SS to start. To try all the suggestions will take some time so I may not be able to reply as to how I got on.

I have a swingarm remaining from a previous project long ago and I'm not sure if the original frame was a slimline or wideline (it was a frame from the year where there was a changeover to slimline, 1960 model year)
Hi, I have a 36' 16H and recently moved to a hilly area, where it's more demanding for the old bike. I have noticed that on the hills the clutch is slipping at times, (I think)? Just wondering if this is an indication that they need replacing?
I noticed there is a Model 19 crank in need of overhaul in the NOC Spares.
Has anyone put a M19 crank into an ES2?
Is it more involved than replacing the piston and crankshaft?

Can anyone list the dimension tolerances for the inner and outer races for the 850 mk3 commando. My starter has packed up and is not spinning the crank. I am trying to replace the sprag bearing alone .
Hi,
I have the timing cover off to check the cam chain tension on my 69 Commando.
I noticed Norvil used to offer a mod to fit a check ball and spring inside the cover.
Hi , I'm curious as to what organisation is tasked with the delivery of our calendars..
I am close to assembling the crankcase on my 72 Commando. I have just done a dry assembly with a new standard camshaft with new thrust washer and I have a lot of endfloat- around 70 thou.
Happy New Year, all:
I finally began re-assembly on my 1949 Inter Model 30 project. As I was getting the oil pump pushed home, a gear slid out and forced it's way out the other side of the case, ruining 7y of work.
I know the principle of this has been discussed before - my pre featherbed ES2 has commando damper tubes and stanchions fitted but this is coming at it from a different angle - I have a friend who races a Mabsa in the genuine pre 60 scrambles clas
I have a 1954 Norton big 4 that was purchased new from Eichler of Vienna. On 5/5 1954 by Mr. Karl Dobrovolnik , Andergasse 21/4 in 1190 Vienna. This is the information that I have been given.
Restoring 69 S code. Clutch siezed. Tried starting in gear and foot on brake etc.
Stripped out and cleaned plates with petrol
No horrors. Plates just gummed together
Re-assembled. All good.
It seems to me that a conventional ratio 4 speed with a 5th overdrive would be a good seller.
What length should the x2 saddle springs be for my 1937 16h civilian model please?
Please someone advise me as to appropriate additive for ethanol containing petrol to prevent corrosion and gumming in my Hinkley 2014 Triumph Bonneville T100.
I recently replaced replaced the PRV on my mk3 850 as a previous owner had tightened it up with a chisel !!!! I noted that there were no shims behind the spring as shown on the parts diagram. Are there shims only required to take up wear?
Hello, and thank you for your previous help with tyres.
Please can you let me have your thoughts about rear suspension for a Mk2a.
I know there has been a lot of discussion on these units but they don't address my problem.
Lucas K2FR mag on my 1956 Dom 99.
When the advance unit is off the taper shaft, the bobweights move easily, the springs pull them back.
Front cover is William (bill) Harris riding through birmingham bull ring. Note the wavy roof canopy to right is still there today!
I have recently overhauled my early AMC box. All new bearings and bushes including a new main shaft. On rebuild I can get all four gears no issues, all good.
Where Is the advanced and retard set when starting from cold.
I am just in the process of changing the front isolastic on my 1971 roadster. I am using the vernier isolastic for the replacement.
Is there a page or can someone tell me what thread forms were used for my 1962 Dominator? I want to get rid of the the now rusty and damaged engine and gearbox bolts/screws with stainless items.
Thanks for your help Roger
The answer to this is probably blatantly obvious, but I'll ask it anyway if only to confirm my ignorance!
I assume there is some sort of bracket which connects the saddle nose to frame? Where Might I buy one and what does it look like please?
Thanks
Gary.
Hi all. Mike Pemberton has the engine from my project to rebuild but has identified that the barrel is from a later (‘55 onwards) model. I’m therefore desperate to find a replacement.
Just putting a N15 (Atlas) engine together - it was in bits when I got it - just noticed the camshaft timing side has 3 woodruff key slots in it spaced at 120 deg? I thought Norton cams had single key slot.
Does anyone know a company which sells piston rings, though by size rather than for a specific bike?
Confession - this is not for a Norton, though I do have three...
Thanks.
