1974 Mk1 850 Commando Information please
Hi
I bought the above yesterday from a friend, complete and ben standing for around 30 years in a garage with no heating so you have an idea of what I have taken on, yes a total stripdown.

Hi chaps, I am trying to finish off the rebuild of my 1964 Navigator forks and struggling to get the new stainless steel locking ring to tighten all the way down onto the fork sliders.
Hi All,
Does anyone know if it is best to use longer rear shocks for use with a 18" rear wheel for a Commando project I am building.
Thanks in advance.
Does anyone have an original horn bracket for the single downtube, swinging arm models that they can photograph for me? I expect it is a straightforward P clip but would like to know what Norton used at the factory.
Thanks, Philip
My 1964 Jubilee came without a centre stand. NOC shop lists them but is out of stock. I have been searching auction sites and parts supliers for weeks without a sniff. A long shot I know but does anyone have one for sale?
Today is the first day of Spring. It's minus 6 deg C and snowing.Attachments

Just going through some (very) old issues of "Motor Cycle" that have come to light in a sort-out (I know ... )
Hello. New member, first post ...... anyone any idea of the original new list price of a M18 in 1947? Thanks
on eBay if anyoneâs interested, just donât bid against each other!
Just seen in Classic Motorcycle.. A bike with its tank not electroplated but spray chromed. Looks fine. And they can do it on any surface, over primer paint on filler.
Hi
I have searched the site but cannot find an answer.
Were the crankcases on the Commando 850 mkIII painted silver from factory.
In my restoration, should I paint them and if so is it all of the casings or should I leave
Happily rebuilding the swing arm set up on my Mk2A and got around to refitting bushes and spindle this weekend.
Done! The ES2 now has a set of sparkling new rims, along with new rubbers. Pirelli in front and Dunlop rear.
Bearings and brakes are all in good shape so next job is just just assemblage, and then boiling the chain.
The rear mudguard on my 1952 ES2 (plunger model) is very close to the tyre both at the top and the back end.
I am just waiting for my magneto to return after rebuild just wondered if I could get information on re timing it.
A friend told me he had seen a magazine article about the Coats Mission for possible evacuation of the royal family in the early days of the war and their use of Internationals for traffic control.
Apologies for what could be taken as sexist, but I am strangely old-fashioned in this respects!
Which female should I encourage to sit on the rear seat of my Norton's for a ride out for a cream tea and why?
Does anyone know if the spares scheme is still operating? I purchased some parts on 11/01/2018 and when delivered was an item short. I have left messages both email and telephone with no result.
I have a kickstart shaft oil seal leek and I canât find a picture of exactly where it goes . I have taken the outside cover off to have a look and I now assume itâs behind the middle cover .
I know there have been previous threads on this topic but I couldn't find a definitive answer. What's the length of an uncompressed spring on a mid-fifties singles clutch?
Hi,
one of our members in France has ordered stuff from the above (and paid!) and has not received the goods.
No contact either by e-mail or phone.
It must be Springtime - ; two more Jubilees have appeared on Ebay in the last few days. Both look quite presentable in blue and dove grey but they have very different starting prices. It seems to be the in-colour and it does look good.
Hi, on the right hand switch there is an 'off-on'off' lever, picture enclosed.
When is the Meeting of the AGM?
Cheers
John H
My 55 ES2 is fitted with a Mod 77 g/box (GB8 rather than G102). I understand that they both have the same width at the top. Nevertheless I simply cannot get the gearbox out. It seems to be jammed between the retaining brackets at the top.
Just of the shelf is this one now in satin black complete with carbon parts
