The spindle of my MK 2 850 US spec commando has seized badly into the gearbox cradle. short of large drift and mate with 7lb sledge hammer I am struggling to get it out. Any tips/ideas welcome.

Hi all, I've sorted the electronic ignition and timing on my Electra now moving on to the starter.
One minute it was OK, the next a great puddle of oil.
Traced it to the kick start shaft, ordered up 2 new rubber seals (spare just in case) and gear box gasket.
My 1949 500 Norton inter was exported to Argentina early in January 1949.I believe it is reasonably correct, except that it is fitted with a brass TT carburetter.
Is it possible to adjust the slack in this distributor/magneto chain? I seem to remember reading that two of the three studs are smaller than the lower one and the mag can be pivoted slightly around it.
It's not the case with my ES2.

On removing the sleeve gear in my 650SS gearbox, the bearing came out with it. No heat was used. I must admit that I did use a little more than a slight tap with my rubber mallet. The bearing is now stuck fast on the sleeve gear.
I was changing over my car wheels to fit the spare winter tyre set. As I wheeled them out of the garage, I stopped to pick out the bits of gravel etc that had got stuck in the treads.
Bike is 1959 Model 50. I'm looking to have it rebored and to fit a new +0.040" piston this winter. I live in the Bournemouth area. My Dominator rebore was undertaken by D.R.
