After a two year delay retirement has allowed me to start the rebuild of my Navigator which suffered a bent frame after a Landrover pulled out in front of me and I had to part company to avoid T boning it.

After a two year delay retirement has allowed me to start the rebuild of my Navigator which suffered a bent frame after a Landrover pulled out in front of me and I had to part company to avoid T boning it.
Following on from the rear brake discussion in the "Electra in spring time" thread, is it possible to fit the Electra (Dominator) rear hub/brake to the Navigator? I don't know, I had a Dominator hub that I considered fitting but didn't bother.
I thought I would attach a couple of pictures of my Electra resting amongst the bright green leaves of the Somerset trees, vibrant blue of the Bluebells and rich red of Campion during my long test ride after it's gearbox, clutch and starter rebuil
A funny thing happened to me today. I took Ethel for a long sunny ride and nothing broke or fell off! I know how much we all love debating the correct thread size of our flange retaining widgets but it's all just a means to an end that I've occa
I think I've sorted out the Norton's starting. The key is just to hold the button in for a couple of seconds at a time - no more - and it starts reliably after 2 or 3 attempts hot or cold.
Hi. Where the blue spot is on the picture, I seem to have oil leaking through from the gearbox, is this normal, or is there meant to be a seal on one end of the shaft?
Hi, can anyone please advise me on what grade/type of oil suits the gearbox and primary on a Navigator?
With great help from Peter Holland, Al Osborn and Andy Sochanik (plus many others) I think I'm nearly there with my Electra. The electric starter is now starting it reliably despite the missing key between motor shaft and sprocket.

My Maintenance Manual & Instruction Book (Publication 105/P) tells me at para 33 that with the weight of the bike on the wheels there should be 3/8" to 1/2" slack in the rear chain.
I finally had the Electra running this morning - I've been struggling but think the problem has been under the tank - maybe a short somewhere. However.....
