straightforward question. Was the above ever supposed to have a copper head gasket or were they always straight on,  head to barrel.
Mine doesn't have one, but i guess that doesn't necessarily make it right.

I have been searching online to no avail, could someone tell me the correct threads for the ES2 (1950) please? I did find some links the older threads on here but it looks like they are NLA?

Have spent some time getting to know the bike (1950 ES2) now. I am a time served mechanic and know my way around an engine, and although they all fundamentally do the same thing they all have their nuances don't they! 

After splitting the crankcases to get to the crankshaft, I didn't notice there wasn't an oil seal on the sprocket side. But now I'm about to put the engine together, it dawned on me I was missing something: said oil seal...
